    1 hr abilities...hear me out

    Paladin: -Flash- stuns all enemies in a 20 yalm radius for 6 seconds. Affects dungeon/raid bosses.

    Dark Knight: -Dark Harvest- doubles damge for 10 seconds and 50% damage given to enemy is returned as HP for dark knight.

    Gunbreaker: -Renzokuken- grants 2 charges to continuation for total of 3.

    Warrior: -Double Attack- the next 5 skills hit twice. Does not affect auto attacks.

    White Mage: -White Wind- casts re-raise on entire party/raid. Re-Raise lasts 15 seconds and fades if member doesn't die.

    Scholar: -Reflect- places a crystal on the battle field. Casting spells on the crystal amplify magic by 25% and reflected to nearest enemy. This can be used by other mages to amplify magic. Cure spells are amplified and cast on nearest party member. Lasts for 10 seconds.

    Astrologian: -Hastega- grants light speed affect to whole party/raid. Astrologian can not move or cast spells during channeled effect. Lasts 8 seconds.

    Monk: -One Hundred Fists- channeled ability and monk must stay near enemy to continue attacks. Greased Lightning will not drop during channeled ability.

    Ninja: -Utsusemi- Grants 3 shadows to whole party/raid. Every time a party member is attacked a shadow will drop and take no damage.

    Dragoon: -Penta Thrust- the next weapon skill is x5 damage and always critical.

    Red Mage: -Swiftcast- Casting magic is instant for 8 seconds.

    Black Mage: -Vidohunir- Lowers targets magic defense for 12 seconds. Affects dungeon/raid bosses.

    Bard: -Sentinel's Scherzo- reduces damage taken to party/raid by 30%. Lasts for 15 seconds.

    You presented examples of the abilities but haven't presented a case for it... :B
    (Also PLD's is kind of lackluster, considering WHM can do that already with Holy every 2.5 seconds).

    Flash was also our old hate-generating ability from 1.0 til it was removed with ShB (it didn't stun but blinded the enemy). And was a magic spell that was most definetley not only useable once every hour.

    The 1-hour ability idea (and 2-hour abilities that they originally were) is an outdated relic from FFXI which may have worked okay back there, due to it's battle system being lethargic at best where parties and dungeons/battles could drag on for hours, so they could get away with abilities with such ridiculously long cooldown times. But times have changed and FFXIV's battle system is so much faster like any good modern MMO. Why have an ability that could effectively only be used once an hour and is little more than a gimmick when it's possible you could have rushed through three or four trials and dungeons by the time it's up again? Besides, in a way the Limit Break system already satisfies that.

    So I do not see SE ever doing anything like that here in FFXIV I'm afraid.

    I mean, if they really wanted to go that route I could see a "once per life" ability, but that would probably just encourage people dying regularly to reuse it which is bad. I'm not sure anything resembling once an hour is reasonable. I'm not sure what the longest is currently but probably nothing longer than 15 minutes for a "super" move. As is 180 seconds is a pretty long wait and that looks to be the current longest, so once every 3 minutes. Based on that? Once every five is the most I could see happening.

    I think a part of the issue is I don't this this game's design has a place for it. I think if you wanted a once-use super ability that is per player and not an LB, then I think a different principle would be needed instead of once per hour. It might fit somewhere like Eureka, which is kinda based on the same kinda endgame as FFXI.

    Not sure what the right way around it would be. I guess 1 per dungeon/trial/raid? Use it wisely or wompwomp, you missed out. Then maybe 1hr refresh on the field or in Eureka and Bozja (when we get it)

    I'd make it once per dungeon only and instant refresh out of it. Waiting an hour before you can use it again sounds really brutal in this game. But I agree. Limit Breaks basically are the big once an hour moves. I suppose they could have a personal limit break gauge that lets you do that? But I'm not sure how great that would be.
