Crash to Desktop. No dx11 error box.

Aloha,

I've been randomly crashing to desktop throughout this patch. It used to only happen in Eulmore (even when Eulmore was empty), but this past week I've had it occur in dungeons, along with savage floors. I've reinstalled drivers along with ffxiv, but it still happens. Not sure what to do at this point. Any help would be appreciated.

Have any changes happened to the device before the issue began? We would also like to recommend several other troubleshooting steps:

1) Make sure that your hardware is not overheating and remove any overclocks you may have on your graphics card or processor. Please check that any fans or vents are clear of blocks.
2) Disable any additional programs that could cause interference with the game itself including chat programs. Also, remove any custom configurations made using graphics driver-level programs.
3) Turn off Fullscreen Optimizations. Find the executable file for the game (normally found in the install folder), right-click it and select 'Properties'. Under the 'Compatibility' tab, check the box labeled 'Disable Fullscreen Optimizations', then click 'Apply'.
4) Remove any unnecessary USB or audio devices (controllers, headphones, flash drives etc.)
5) Perform a clean boot by opening the task manager and select the 'Start up' Tab. Disable everything

There haven't been any changes prior the issue. As for these troubleshooting steps, I've tried them all but I haven't had any luck (even after a clean install of ffxiv).

You need to check if the problem is related to FFXIV or your hardware. I suggest you download 3DMark and run Time Spy test (it's free) and see if it works properly. If it crashes with time spy as well then it's not specific to FFXIV. If it doesn't then it is. In that case try to revert to an older driver, 442.50 for example.

I've crashed irrespective of what else I have open. Whether's that's solely ffxiv, or ffxiv while in discord or listening to music on spotify.

I've reinstalled the game, and it still happens.

I can't find a free version of 3dmark. It looks like it costs 30 dollars. I've done benchmark tests before and haven't had any issues. I also play others games and never crash. I've tried rolling back to previous drivers. I crashed to desktop shortly after.

Can you try deleting the locally-saved data folder (My Documents > My Games > Final Fantasy XIV)? Make sure to create a backup of this so you can replace it if it doesn't solve the issue.
