    Latency spiking during raids (~3.5s)

I have been trying to solve 3.5 seconds latency spikes during raids.

I live in Australia, and my character is on Tonberry.

    I have done:
    • UPnP disabled
    • Wired network (Rj45 + optic fiber)
    • No firewall or anti-virus
    • no background tasks or services
    • Xeon CPU (8 cores) and 1060 GTX
    • No energy saving on network card
    • High performance settings
    • Ping to Google DNS (8.8.8.8) = 8ms
    • Ping to Datacenter = 155ms
    • In-game sending: 32ms receiving: 850ms
    • Router is linux-box with Xeon (i.e. very fast)
    • Port forwarding
    • Command line to change network settings (heuristic disabled, tuning disabled, RSS enabled)

    I haven't done:
    • Using WTFast service or other

I don't think the congestion is the PC or the local network, or either the IPS has the ping to the DC is good. The port forwarding may improve by few milliseconds the ping but won't resolve 3.5s lags.

    I have 3 questions:
    • What is causing the latency spikes?
    • What should I do to resolve it?
    • Would a service like WTFast make a real difference?

    Thanks for the help

I installed and I am using WTFast (1 week free trial).

The ping indicated in WTFast is about 180ms (without) and 110ms (with WTFast)

It seems that the in-game receiving/sending is not reliable.
    • I enabled/disabled the port forwarding: 0 impact
    • I re-enabled Windows 10 firewall: +20ms on latency spikes (to confirm)

My advise use WTFast or similar to REALLY check your ping.

Good afternoon and thank you for posting in the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums

Are you able to provide a trace route? Additionally, it could be a variety of reasons that could be causing latency spikes. Are you connected directly to the router, or are you using WiFi?
