    Job versatility

Greetings, i know this may have already been mentioned in the past but, have you ever thought of adding some versatility to the jobs? for instance when i returned to ff14 after a long hiatus i noticed the dark knight and gunbuster jobs. now i used to be a real good paladin tank but i wish not to be in the roll of tank anymore but the dk and gb are locked as tank. would there be some way to make the tank jobs able to fill the dps roll aswell? maybe something like a "guardian stance" to where they act as normal and a "striker stance" that drops the enmity gain down to that of any other dps job, and when the stance changes moves like flash will instead of gain enmity can perhaps give a temporary damage buff to the character instead?

Why would jobs need more versatility? That would make sense in a game where each character is locked into one and only one class/job.
In FFXIV all characters can pick up all jobs, so if you want to play a different role you just change to a different job. If you don't have dps job (for example), then it is time to level one.

Your versitality is the fact you can play multiple jobs on a single character. You just gotta be willing to level them.

An economic choice is summoner/scholar. 2 for the price of one

No, the role for each class/Job is set and cannot be changed - you can tell what role each is by simply looking at the colour of the class/Job icon (blue for tank, green for healer, red for DPS). Tanking definetly requires doing DPS though as a fundamental part of it's mechanics - hate is directly proportional to the damage you deal after all (and if you keep your 'tanking stance' up, it boosts the hate your attacks cause even more). So you'll already be playing as a DPS while tanking anyway.

You can queue for a duty and change to another class/Job while you wait, but when the duty pops you'll have to switch back to the class/Job you queued for before entering, the Duty Finder will not let you enter otherwise.

No, we are saying if you wanna play dps, level a dps class on your character. Tanks gotta tank.

Enkidoh, i am fully aware how to tell jobs apart, all im saying is if someone wants to play as a paladin or a dark knight, etc. but doesnt want to be in the tank roll though they love the job would it really be that difficult for square to implement a way to dps instead of tank for those specific jobs?

They could if they wanted to I suppose, but they won't. Because that would mean balancing each tank class for 2 seperate roles, and they'd have to have different skills, since like 1/4th of a tank's kit is defensive skills that DPS classes don't have or need. And if they didn't do any balancing like that, tank classes in DPS roles would be horribly sub-optimal since they naturally do less damage than DPSs.
