People still shout for power leveling groups. Leves are good for XP until you run out of allowances for them.

I read somewhere that power leveling consisted of getting someone with a higher level character to join the group, tag some mobs and then drop group. Something of that nature. I suppose I'm not too interested in that sort of power leveling, but more interested in a group of people going out together and chain pulling mobs for the XP bonus. Something that's still challenging, I guess. Or is that considered power leveling in FFXIV?

I always associated power leveling with getting a group together and just going out and beating things in the face. But yeah, in a group you'll more than likely fight mobs that are around 5-10 levels above you (the chain xp you get for stuff like that is great). From what I've seen so far, XP group shouts have been random of late and always involve higher level players; but I'm sure that I've just missed the lower level group shouts since I'm barely in a city for too long.

you are correct Pleveling is getting a high level to pull drop and then kill mobs for you. Also feel free to use weaponskills when they are available.
