Suggestion: update and make mandatory Hall of novice tutorial

Lately ff14 has had a huge influx of new players, that being said there has been a significant lack of a basic tutorial and a good portion of players that barely know how to fight in early dungeons, and holminister switch after using the level skip.

The road to 70 buff is so strong it allows one to skip a lot of extra mob fighting early on and class quests which teach how to play the class.
It has started to become very noticeable with tanks forgetting their tank stance, healers failing to heal correctly and not dpsing, nevermind the sheer volume of players standing in aoe markers or doing them incorrectly.

My suggestions for when: Before a new player enters their first dungeon duty (regardless of sastacha or if they purchased a story skip to go to holminister) they must do the hall of the novice to learn how to fight in a party.
As there is also 2 level 10 guildhests, I would also suggest putting the first couple of exercises be mandatory before then.

    Suggestions to improve it:
Put npc allies into the party menu- I met a couple of sprout healers that got confused because they couldn't see who to heal, onscreen. Had to teach them how to scroll the party menu
Use a duty action- this is why lakshmi is still a pain. People aren't taught how to use the duty action.
Common target indicators- we have stack markers, line attacks, look away from boss, acceleration bombs and many more that are common faire. Players need to learn how to do these.
Stun/silence a target- from a sprout's perspective, why do some bars glow and most don't? the rest of us know we silence those attacks
Tank swap (with provoke) and turning on and off tank stance- these are crucial parts of tanking
Protect against a tank buster- again core part of tanking
Curing a status ailment- Nowhere does it state ingame that blue bar icons are capable of being cleansed by healers, nor that healers need to remove these.
Raise a dead ally- again nowhere does it state how to do this, had a sprout on titan normal that couldn't work out how to raise the smn that ate 3 weight of the land.

Nothing irritates me more than quests to heal NPCs, who arent in your party list.
I filtered out targeting NPCs for a reason!! (And even then, its still annoying if they arent filtered)

Limit Break use needs to be added as well.

Put proper times to use aoe vs single target since it's not common practice to read the tooltips before people start slapping 'em

Really, the game could just use a better system of tutorials overall. When it comes to AoEs, as an example, the game isn't really very clear about how exactly they work anyway. It's sort of left up to the player to either parse the tooltip (which usually requires some pre-knowledge of the game's mechanics), just try it (which new/nervous players are unlikely to due when they feel the pressure is on), or hunt out training dummies to puzzle it out themselves. It shouldn't be up to the player to puzzle out the specifics of conals vs columns vs character oriented AoEs vs target oriented AoEs when the game just gives fairly meaningless distance numbers as guidance.

I'm reminded of Black Desert Online where, when you go into your skill tree, it actually shows you little videos of how moves work and how they can/should be chained together. Not that FF14 is anywhere near as intricate in it's combat as BDO can be but if a action oriented game like BDO can do it there's no reason why FF14 can't do it with it's fewer moves and simpler systems.

I would suggest Hall of Novice completion should be mandatory requirement before you head into a Duty Finder for each role. Meaning that you need to finish Hall of Novice with the role in question before you are allowed to partake Duty Finder with that particular role.

Someone who has a lvl 80 dps would still need to do Hall of Novice for Tanks if they are to play a Tank job and use DF with it. Especially important for the Tanks that start at higher level.

    That sounds incredibly annoying.

Namely because I use alts. I don't want to slog through a boring ARR fight synced down when I don't have to.

I agree with the sentiment of making it mandatory (though forgetting tank stance is totally normal and just need a reminder) for the sake of a tutorial that is properly integrated. But at the same time, not everyone needs it. And let's say, someone jumps. Even when synced down, they can sleep their way through anything lv50 and under even when synced even with NQ NPC gear and learn -nothing-.

How long does it take to do Novice Hall anyway? I don't remember it at all. If it sounds too annoying to do it for each role (max 3 times in total) they can make a shorter version of it for your second role or just require a single tough solo instance where you need to succesfully use your role. You get the idea.

meh, thats just hall of the novice. if the NPC let u skip the chit chat and let u do the fights, u wouldnt care probably. (and compact some of the requests into 1 instance, rather than multiple instances.)
most new players i know, dont read the text, dont see the text, or couldnt read fast enough. its the worst possible way to teach, with an unskipable cutscene, where the text doesnt let u read at ur pace.

1 instance instead of drop dead boring tiers would be the way I'd like to see it.
