im having trouble getting HQ effeverscent water. I have some perception gear from quests and it is still at 0% for HQ. How do i raise the %???

When I use Preparation at the node, it says Perception needs to be equal to or greater than 78 for a chance at HQ.

I've got a level 26 MIN wearing mainly level 16-22 gear and she has 143 Perception without materia or food buffs. It sounds like some of your gear is far below the level they should be for that node or you have a slot without gathering gear equipped.

Your sledgehammer (offhand tool) will have the largest amount of perception of any single item so make sure you have one that's at least level 19 equipped. It's very helpful if your main hand and your left side gathering gear are also at least level 19. NQ gear is sold cheap at vendors.

If you're still short on Perception after updating some of your gear, food and materia (Guile) can increase it more though the gains you get from those at low level aren't as much as you get from having gear appropriate to your level equipped.

You have a few options: better gear, food buff, FC buff. Gear will get you the biggest boost. Then once your hq chance is at least 1%, you should have some skills to boost it higher(you just cant boost from 0 sadly). Also, one of the nodes will often have a +5% HQ chance buff. Again, once youre at 1% you can take advantage of that too(provided your stats are high enough to trigger said buff).
