General Community Resistant to Healer Damage?

In a nutshell, as soon as you start building skills as a healer the gameplay becomes a one button spam. The design was changed to have a really low skill floor which helps newer players get into healing but they've simultaneously lowered the skill ceiling so much that higher tiered players just find it boring (just so happens career healers tend to be higher tiered at healing, funny how that works)

On the other hand, Klaleara, lots of folks are very happy with the current iterations of healers. They are just in the game, not on the forums for the most part. I've been healing in XIV since 2010, and I still enjoy it. So don't be swayed by anything you read here (including my own words, of course). Play the role and decide for yourself

They are? I couldn't tell, given how the predominant "Adventurer in need" bonus switched from tank to healer.

The entire "people who enjoy the role are in game and not the forums" isn't a good argument. At least not as a means to undervalue the importance of the negative feedback provided (consistently) on these forums regarding healers. There's an entire field built around customer feedback and how feedback numbers (negative or positive) can be translated into general customer satisfaction. Not only this but negative feedback is much more likely to domino effect and spread than good feedback. So in that regards it's even more important.
Of course, as others have pointed out it's also much harder to find healers this expansion than it ever has. And even harder to find career healers. There's a healer drought when it comes to statics for instance. This tends to indicate that even in game satisfaction is pretty low.
Besides, like I said, how boring you find the class is going to be tied to which skill tier you belong to. If you're casual, haven't tried to optimize your gameplay (or simply don't care because you don't find it fun) then current healers are going to be just fine. The first half of the cognitive flow chart for healers is normal. It's in the later half that it just strays right into "boring".

Only started to heal, curious why you think the design is so terrible? As a WoW healer, seems fine as is.

as a "wow refugee" i actually think the healing is better here, cast a couple ogcds and then just continue dpsing like a fiend but with better queue times

Also, did people ignore my suggestion to look at FFlogs? You get an immense amount of data there. It's telling of this situation when even grey healer parsers that have gross overhealing have damaging spell casts in the hundreds, while their compounded healing casts barely reach fifty.

To be fair I didn't post a link to it, or encourage using any type of parser. But since its data that can inform people's view on the prevalence of healing downtime and the usage of DPS spells by healers, I think it's useful in this discussion, taboo or not.
