General Community Resistant to Healer Damage?

Watch this explode, but I'm curious; why is there so much disdain for healers doing damage, or having more than 2 buttons to press for damage in any situation presented?

If Dps had 2 buttons to press since level 8 you guys would go nuts over this and demand changes. So why are people (generally ones who are ignorant of the role) so resistant to this suggestion when it is brought up in any way?

Do you guys enjoy having bad healers que for the quick play and actually make the dungeon harder and take longer? Are you generally unconcerned with the real exodus of very long term healers vacating the role?

Why does Square Enix continue to ignore this issue, post zero statements about it, and ignore it harder than when Machinists were crying out how awful their class felt to play? Why is healers doing the same any different, but looked upon with such disgust?

And one of them is a damage loss over Glare. Sad, I do love watching those 80k crits over mobs and the black mage critting at the same time with foul for like 120k.

I've wondered this myself for ages. After all nobody complained in HW or SB about healers doing damage or doing buffs/debuffs when they didn't need to heal (which was and still is around 70% of the time)
Maybe the wow refugees trying to bring their style of healing over? i haven't played that so idk, but I've heard damage is more random there.

Honestly I think if healers were more like pre-SHB SCH I think people would possibly be more interested in healing. Having multiple options for dps would be nice and make questing/solo content more interesting. One can only cast 1 primary damage spell and DoT so many times before it just gets old, especially how little it can do.

But our focus as healers is to keep others alive, and enable our tanks to make big pulls.... until they eat 5 tank busters in rapid succession....

It's not disdain for me really. I just prefer to be spending the majority of my time on my healer actually healing, and that's just not how this game is. If things are going well, you basically spend more time as a dps than a healer, and I'm not terribly interested in that. Which is why I only use my whm for hunts really, and effectively act like a dps that has an easier time keeping themself alive and can always toss resses to people :P if I'm doing actual instanced content, I'm dpsing (or sometimes tanking). The style of healing in this game just isn't my thing.

I am wondering what disdain you're actually seeing though. Most of the complaints I've seen is that healers don't have enough buttons to push and that they're dull and boring. I mean I never liked scholar, but it felt freaking stupid awful having exactly one (1) aoe, and it doesn't even have a good animation. Yes, let me uhhhhh slam my book on the ground a few times, that's reasonable, probably. Suuuuper meh.

I’d probably settle for a proc in all honesty. X% when casting the primary damage spell, or during a DoT tick, that you can now cast this other spell for additional damage. Just a little something extra to show you’re paying attention.

I don't mind it when healers do damage. The main point of this all is when these "Healer's" think they are a DPS. They spend more time trying to DPS than healing which results in people dying which then causes a wipe. Iv'e seen it happen, healer's get into DPS'ing to much and don't heal and people die. Which causes of course, longer runs.

People need justification for not paying attention to whatever the're doing and watching netflix on the side.

For solo content it gets very boring. However I dont see them fixing healers until 6.0

What happened to SCH was devastating and made the job no longer desireable to me.

WHM is pretty much the best deal right now.
