Huge Content Dry Spell In The Future?

With 5.3 only being delayed a few weeks because of COVID-19, so far things don't seem too bad. But with Japan reopening parts of the economy last week, the possibility of a COVID-19 resurgence could prompt another quarantine and thus 5.4 and even 5.5 could end up being delayed for many months. Is anyone prepared for such a potential content dryspell? How do you even prepare for that in this game?

We are already in one and I honestly dont know... they have settled now so it might not hit as bad next time, atm the best we can is hope everyone stays save and they can work as good as they can.

Other games is my fix. I'll stay subscribed to support the devs, but there isn't much hope i'll keep playing the entire time. Working on my Square backlog atm. Finished the Trials of Mana remake and playing Dragon Quest XI now. Super fun games if anyone needs a break from this one.

As far as another quarantine goes I guarantee it will happen. There is historical context as well to support that it's going to happen. During the last big pandemic, the Spanish Flu, everyone went back to their regular lives after the first wave too soon and a second wave occurred which was hundreds of times worse and killed tens of millions world wide.

Housing timers were turned off several weeks ago.

You also have 45 days even when they are on, from the last time you entered your house.

I simply play other games on the weekends, raid during the week, and have big fish to catch in between.


Though apparently on the forums, I'm one of the few who still goes to work m-f, so I have a lot less free time than some do.

When Eureka was released, after trying it out and hating it, I spent the next 4-6 months crafting/gathering,doing non-combat content like chocobo racing,visiting RP venues/events etc

XIV has enough existing content to keep me going even if SE were to stop producing new content for months.

XIV has enough existing content to keep me going even if SE were to stop producing new content for months.

This is pretty much my plan lol. Finish getting battle jobs to 80, then take a 2 month holiday from work to learn how to do DoH/DoL jobs.

Unlike a certain other MMO which has content dryspells of up to 12 months, XIV has an insane amount of just stuff to do if you go looking for it.

Other games, finding something to work on that is a time sink(old relics, achievement farming, etc). I tend to jump around other games during dry spells
