I was replaying through ARR on an alt to see it again before it gets cut/redone so I can see what all was changed in 5.3. I will say though some of the early level gameplay needs to be looked at for some classes, I started as an ACN to do the Limnsa opening and man having a carbuncle who only aoes has made me stay places longer then I intended from it pulling extra stuff.

I wish that you'd just unlock almost your whole rotation at level 50 already for every job so jobs will get much more interesting much earlier. Perhaps have everything ability you unlock from 50 to 70 at level 50 so you won't be unlocking any abilities anymore during previous expansions (gradually from lvl 1-50) only keep the ShB new ablitities so there will be some excitement for latest expansion perhaps. Basically our level 70 kit should be already there at level 50 imo.

It's really a huge problem imo for new players that they are stuck in boring slow combat for over 100 hours when starting this game. They should at least unlock most of their rotation and abilities at level 50, it only makes sense imo. People coming from other MMOs which generally have more fast paced combat anyway are I think very turnt off by the slow combat at lower levels.

Not to mention that the devs removed certain abilities to be givin at a alter date. Or that the lack of rotational tools forces players to use different rotations on certain Jobs (like say BLM)

Might be better just to cap the buttons at 80 and maybe give one trait or button as a capstone.

This is pretty much my plan lol. Finish getting battle jobs to 80, then take a 2 month holiday from work to learn how to do DoH/DoL jobs.

Unlike a certain other MMO which has content dryspells of up to 12 months, XIV has an insane amount of just stuff to do if you go looking for it.

If you find yourself running out of things to do, you can always play another game that you haven't played yet in the meantime. Its what I have been doing.Like RE3 and other's.

One thing SE can do is do a combined monthly sub with both FFXIV and FFXI. Yes FFXI is old and the graphics and UI are severely outdated, but it's still good. You can try it this Friday when it has a free login campaign for a week.

Unfortunately, since most of FFXIV's content are 1 time use content, like Eureka, Diadem, Savage Raids, there's not much else to do.

Try to look at the positive things and try new games . Definitely try FFXI if you haven't yet.

I have the chance to get back into FFXIV during this quarantine period and it's very depressing to hear constant suggestions to play something else. I'm already playing other games while also playing FFXIV now.

I think those comments are more aimed at people who have been about for awhile without break and are running out of things to do. I doubt anybody is suggesting people with things they'd like to do in game stop playing and those just getting back into the game likely still have plenty to do as content has been added while they were away.

If on the other hand somebody reaches the point where they've exhausted the content that appeals to them, but new content is delayed due to current events, then there's little good in them continuing to login everyday just to be bored. I've seen people do this and it only makes them resent the game. In such cases there's no real solution other than taking a break until new content becomes available, sadly.

I've been doing some research and 5.3 is refining New Game+ and that just might be the solution of something to do that'll take awhile.

FFXIV can burn someone out too easily. Even Yoshi advises stepping out checking other games every once in a while which sounds like you are doing

If you are having fun you are having fun, but if you are out of content, that's when you will want to step back and either find something else to do in game or possibly take a small break. Just unfortunate series of events that is going on. If you haven't checked out Eureka there is still that going on if you haven't done that yet. But if you want a quest make sure to check out the Hildebrand quest line if you haven't yet. That spans from ARR to StB and its quite comical.
