Where Did The Action Bar Go?

First, I'm not a 'new player' but this question certainly fits here.

So I'm one of those 'play as someone else' duties, in this case the one in 5.1 (I'll not mention details to avoid spoiling), and I hit my hotkey to switch UI layouts to the one I use for duties and the 'special' action bar disappeared; the one with the '+' sign instead of a number from 1 to 10.

I tried scrolling through the bar using the ^ and V buttons but all I could select was one of the normal ones.

I had to let myself die to re-start the duty.

Why did switching UI 'lose' this special bar and how do I get it back while in that alternate UI? I've poked around the HUD editor and don't see this bar at all.

I think it's on the pet hotbar? Same place the mount actions appear for mounts that have actions like goobbues, Easter egg, amalja Drake, etc. You could try using one of those mounts to test.

It's L1 on a controller to get back there, I have no idea what the keyboard shortcut is

Hmmm, okay, I see that the pet bar has the '+' marker so you're right, what still baffles me is that the '+' replaced the '1' bar in the HUD I had selected at the time I started the duty so I'd expected it to do the same replacement when I selected an alternate HUD, but it didn't.

Still, thanks to you I know where else to look in case I get caught out another time.
