So Which 'Duty Button' Do I Use?

I'm not a raider so the ATE mechanic is almost totally new me, I think I remember something similar way back in Stormblood, but something different popped up in the final trial in 5.0.

My problem is this: I tried spamming a mouse click on the on-screen button but died, presumably I didn't spam quick enough, so I've looked to see how to keybind it .. and that's where I'm baffled.

In the Keybindings there are THREE 'duty buttons':

1) In the System section there's one called 'General duty button'
2) In the Hotbar section there are two called 'Duty Actions 1' and 'Duty Actions 2'.

In the HUD layout in the 'Duty' section there's a square UI feature called 'Duty Action' which I THINK is where the two 'Duty Action' buttons are located (and wihch I vaguely recall seeing in a Stormblood duty) but I cannot for the life of me see another round button like the one that popped up in the Trial, all I see is a 'Duty Gauge' which doesn't sound like a 'button'.

So, is the 'General duty button' keybind for a UI element that the HUD layout editor simply doesn't have but is what I need to map in order to activate this button during the ATE, or is there yet another' duty' button I've yet to discover.

This is utterly confusing and seemingly not at all documented by SE, can someone help me?

Any button during an ATE works.
Mash WASD, 1234, whatever you want as long as it’s buttons that would otherwise do something.

Duty Action 1/2 are on the UI and are unrelated.

Yeah, Canadane has it. For the "spam a button" ATEs, you can literally use basically anything on your keyboard or gamepad. These never coincide with movement or attacks, so i tend to just pop both hands into a typing position and spaz out for a second.

Thanks chaps, I didn't know about the 'spam any' option, wish I had done before doing that trial.

The only thing I still don't know is what the "General duty button" is, I've only ever seen the 2-button UI element pop-up once, guess I'll know it when I see it.

The General Duty Key joins/unjoins a FATE that requires you to sync.
