I think at this point, they're just going full speed ahead with their vision, not caring whether or not it ends in a crash.

Alternatively, maybe the devs do care, but not a single bit of our feedback is being delivered to them, so they don't know that we're not happy. Neither is a good look, honestly.
Regarding Kaiten in particular, it got addressed once. In the Patch Note reading for Patch 6.1 during maintenance, Yoshi-P said they had been reading feedback, asked the playerbase to see how it feels, and that he would make a followup. Guess what never fucking happened. For reference, here is the section from the FFXIV Translation Discord because it's pretty big and I don't wanna copy/paste it all:

He repeats himself a lot and waffles back and forth on whether or not it's the right thing to do, and the last thing he has to say in regards to the SAM and Crit changes is "submit feedback". Which means fuck all since feedback never gets addressed. He does his best to ignore Healer questions to the point where I'll be amazed if he answers any at the 7.0 Media Tour, Kaiten has been completely swept under the fucking rug, and not a peep about the two minute meta. I dunno, it's always the same bullshit. SE announces they'll be doing something phenomenally stupid that will fuck with a Job, the playerbase gets pissed, Yoshi-P cries on stream and asks the players to try it out and give feedback, and then the topic is ignored until the next outrage. They rarely walk back on these kinds of changes, and SCH getting Energy Drain back is a massive outlier. I just go into Live Letters expecting nothing.
