Yes lv 1 healers are why it is so popular among people with i500 or even i535 raid weapons. And even though you can also start as BLM or SMN at lv 1, SCH and AST are more popular

I got Diamond Weapons for all my Tanks despite hating the role. I fail to see how me having a weapon for a class I don't really play is indicative of popularity.
