It's (hopefully) already a well known fact that game journalists are just on a whole other level of suckery when it comes to video games. This plus SE already being aware that there are people who are bored with healing means that they're very likely not going to talk about simplifying them even further. With the new Sage job having a kit that rewards aggressive play, they're definitely trying to find compromise between the passive and active healers.

That is 100% a choice. Every "ranged" job can absolutely sit in melee range if they wanted to in lots of content.

Hell, healers LOATHE the dps who stand at the far edge of the arena outside of aoe healing range.

Veteran healers don't care if we need to heal, but right now we don't. We want interesting things to do during the downtime other than a 30s dot and a single filler spell that hasn't changed from lvl 4 to lvl 90.
Dead DPS do no DPS. Raised DPS do 25/50% lower DPS. Do the mechanics and don't stand in bad stuff.

I highly doubt that Sage is going to be that big of a breakthrough. If anything, Sadge is going to be the glaremage #1 in Endwanker, because your Glarespam is going to heal the Tank more than enough for any Dungeon content.

Is it bad-mannered while running a dungeon to yank someone back into my Earthly Star?

And by someone, I meant the tank. And by dungeon, I mean Bardam’s Mettle.

I do the exact same with Asylum. And I make sure to ask them (nicely of course) TO STAY IN MY DAMN HEALING BUBBLE.

I'm well aware but that has nothing to do with my argument. RDM is only required to be in melee range for it's combo. Obviously, range players in general should stay relatively close for healing. However, the crux of my point is that comparing a Melee Healer to RDM isn't a good comparison since the latter doesn't need to be in melee range often whereas a Healer's whose damage is based around being in melee range would considering how often healers, reluctantly, spam their single nuke.

Simply put, a melee healer just wouldn't work with how SE designs encounters.

After being a longtime lurker of the Healer subsection of the forums(5.1 is when my healing journey officially began, so not as long as many of the posters I've come to respect here have healed), I want to officially give my 2 Gil in support to the OP.

I find it absolutely ridiculous(and more than a little frustrating) that the devs think that literal 1 button spam in combat is okay, while also keeping the overall damage low enough in daily content(and even some Savage fights from what I've heard, my only Savage experience is E5S) where you hardly ever need to heal. I feel like it shows a complete lack of understanding of how the Role is played at all, and it really just baffles me. Like, how could they not think when testing 5.x healers(and soon to be 6.x) that pressing 1 button 12 times, and then pressing button 2 once every 30 seconds is okay.

At this point I don't feel like a healer, I feel like a gimped DPS that also is a unpaid babysitter.

it's because the decision to make it 111111111 wasn't made by a job designer - their reasoning wasn't that they think dpsing on a healer should be easy, or that people wont be able to handle more buttons - no, it had nothing to do with gameplay reasons: their reasoning was that giving more dps buttons will lead to healer harassment. basically healers get 1111111 for same reason we aren't allowed to use dps meters - until this changes i don't think more testing or more job designers gonna fix anything

That's just silly. Job design shouldn't be dictated by hypothetical, social "what-ifs."
If anything, you'd think it be LESS "harassment" because you have more on your plate, and therefore more to juggle.

If people genuinely think being asked to use their full kit(which includes damage spells, a whopping 2 of them!) is harassment, then I'm concerned.
