I miss the non-Augmented Shire tanks in Doma/ Abania or barely passing min ilvl groups in Qitana doing the spicy pulls. Bonus points for one or more pieces being broken. Forgetting mitigation is also an option.

If healer design is so awful why is WHM consistenly the most popular job? This forum is an echo chamber while everyone else is just playing the game. And holy magic is so much prettier than dirty geomancer magic. We are white mage not green and brown mage

I'd argue it's popular for a couple of reasons:

It's the only healer route that's open from your first login without jumping through a few hoops first.

It's arguably one of the most iconic FF jobs ever.

It has the least emphasis on cooldowns relative to AST and SCH, therefore it's easier to play at a very basic level vs the others currently.

Lastly and perhaps most importantly, all 3 healer jobs are as badly designed as each other

Writing all of this off because you think it's an echo chamber is a truly shitty outlook though. Should I start writing everything you say off as some mindless white knight? No, because that's shallow, petty and doesn't achieve a thing.

I’ve always been of the impression that RDM is far easier to play relative to the other casters at the current level cap. Same for Dancer.

Are you saying they are not iconic? When I think of FF I think of White and Black mage, or summoning shiva or ifrit or bahamut

BLM has the least emphasis on cooldowns compared to RDM and SMN and any other dps, and its basic rotation of B3 B4 F3 F4--- is very easy to understand and execute. It's ogcds can be used whenever you have weave spots and don't affect your rotation at all. You don't even need to worry about what skills you put under leylines because it is a speed rather than damage buff. The only thing you can say that is hard is that it requires to not move, but so does WHM. I love this job because of how simple and easy it is

RDM has several cooldowns that you need to think about, for example having a melee portion, manafication needs to consider how much mana you have and putting you into melee combo, or displacement/corps-a-corps considering your positioning. It's much more complicated than BLM

If WHM is the 'most popular' job, I'd hazard it's far less because of some mass appeal and people enjoying it, and more so because it's literally the only healer you can start the game with, and every other role having more options from the get go so people don't all clump up on one dps or tank the same way healers get funneled into WHM. Hell even when you've been at the game for a while and have all the jobs unlocked, there's still more tanks and *drastically* more DPS (all with varied play styles to boot), where as healers are all pretty samey once you figure out how they work so there's not a ton of reason to swap to a different one if it's something you only pull out on the rare occasion to shorten a queue anyway.

Yes lv 1 healers are why it is so popular among people with i500 or even i535 raid weapons. And even though you can also start as BLM or SMN at lv 1, SCH and AST are more popular
