this always happens in these forumsCan we please start commenting on the more relevant and useful posts to stop having the spam from Victoria filling the first page of the forums. Im trying my best to avoid interaction with post that are just incredibly misleading and full of bait. It really delegitimizes the more productive discussion when someone new to the forum has to wade thru 5 or 6 poorly written rants based purely on speculation or outright lies to find anything useful.any time theres any intelligent discussion or analysis it gets buried in drama and/or from other pposts or even in the same thread

Honestly it is frustrating how SE thinks healers MUST be disciple of magic and it will only restrict them with further healing jobs.

i think they are forgetting that healing magic includes support not just pure healing, i mean its the rule in both games and anime...(not just other ff games)

Veteran healers don't care if we need to heal, but right now we don't. We want interesting things to do during the downtime other than a 30s dot and a single filler spell that hasn't changed from lvl 4 to lvl 90.
Dead DPS do no DPS. Raised DPS do 25/50% lower DPS. Do the mechanics and don't stand in bad stuff.
Other games expect basic competence, FFXIV is pleasantly surprised by it. Other games have toxic elitism. FFXIV has toxic casualism.[/LIST]
"Then what is magic for?" Prince Lir demanded wildly. "What use is wizardry if it cannot save a unicorn?"
Schmendrick did not turn his head. With a touch of sad mockery in his voice, he said, "That's what heroes are for."

I think the biggest problem is lack of creativity and playing too safe. They admitted they gave up on Chemist because they weren't able to think of a working design for a non-magic healer. Since they don't even have a healer designer, there's no room to think outside the box and be imaginative. This is why even Sage is a semi-SCH clone with a fancy coat of paint and it's sort of sad to see some players lapping it up and claiming it's entirely different.

Though, I always imagined that the CHM could’ve been an Allagan based class that uses aetherochemistry for heavy buffing. I’m just wondering what Japanese pop-culture it could be based on (considering RPR is Bloodborne and SGE is Gundam, I feel like looking at pop-culture could be a pretty strong indicator on what the dev team might work on next).
Are FF14 healers ready to accept a melee healer? I looked up past forum posts on the topic and...it was not pretty.

A shame because DNC was seen as the potential for such a concept and I know I was digging it (but I still love what we got anyway). FFXI DNC was a melee job that could tank, DPS and heal and most of the speculations for an FFXIV DNC went to the healing aspect. It even used TP to heal. Though you'd not normally have it as a main healer, though I have been in a couple of parties where it was. And our static leader would tank with it sometimes.
I think similar concepts could be FFXIV-ified and kinda cool, but unlikely...especially as I sincerely doubt we'd get another healer.

Scoundrel is a great example I always forget about.
I'll add warrior priest to that list as well. A melee centric healer that was an absolute blast to play.

I'd rather the existing healers not be flaming garbage before we start in on wacky design spaces like melee healing. Nevermind the fact that Square's encounter design up to now presupposes that all healers are ranged. What would a melee healer do during Searing Wind? /dance?
