    Update: Square Enix emailed me stating it is not their issue, and they will not troubleshoot this. Email details quoted below. More or less they gave us all the finger and said a majority of the players aren't experiencing this issue, so those of us that are, too bad.

    Since there are no issues reported with the server directly and common connection issues are not affecting the player base as a whole, we cannot agree that the game or server is having consistent issues.

    If you are still experiencing these disconnections, unfortunately, we do not have further troubleshooting to provide for you as it would be outside common disconnection conditions. Additionally, we would not be able to escalate this error further as it does not stem from the game server itself. However, if you feel this does have something to do with the game, you are free to make a bug report either in-game or on the bug report forums.

    For those still experiencing this issue still, join me and create a ticket in the In-Game Bugs forum. Maybe that team can actually do their job and provide us support, since the team managing this Technical Support forum and email support is absolutely 100% worthless.

    Hey DoomAngel: I've been trying to do more testing on my system. I found something interesting, and I'm curious if you have something similar. Not sure if this is the cause or not.

    I ran a WireShark trace off both my and my wife's computers. The TCP stream on my connection to the server is clean and unbroken. On my wife's computer, however, the TCP stream is peppered with [TCP Spurious Transmission] [TCP Dup ACK] .. they appear every second or so.

    UPDATE - I MAY HAVE SOLVED MY PROBLEM

    I've got my wife connected, but it's only been five minutes. However, if this fits with anyone else here, then MAYBE this will work.

    In my (wife's) network adapter settings, I disabled the 802.11n connectivity entirely. Her laptop is now forced into a/b/g mode. As soon as I changed this setting, I got her logged into the game faster than ever, and it's been stable. She's standing in the Limsa Lominsa aetheryte plaza with an R2000.

    I haven't reverse engineered this enough to figure out why (if) this fully works. The retransmissions I was seeing in WireShark may have been the result of either dual-band connectivity (and duplicate frames being sent) or 802.11n just being too fast (?) causing duplication, combined with low fault tolerance of the game client.

    If this works for anybody else, PLEASE let me know. If it becomes a common solution, I'll ask SE to add it to their cut/paste response and maybe it can help someone else too.

    Thanks for helping troubleshoot! Unfortunately, I'm on a wired connection and do not connect to WiFi, so this is not my issue anyway. May help others, so thanks for the feedback!

    No worries. Out of curiosity, can you install Wireshark and do a trace? You would just need to start capturing from the point where you log in. If there are TCP errors, that might tell something. Some things are more fault tolerant than others ... Those TCP errors were showing up on every connection. XIV wasn't able to handle packet duplication very well, but perhaps other games can. Wondering if there are similar duplication issues on yours.

    I'm seeing the FFXIV Server 204.2.229.93 sending a FIN TCP packet to close the connection out of nowhere, with no TCP errors to be found. Snapshots from 3 different sessions where i was disconnected. This was the last traffic captured.

    Disconnect #1:



    Disconnect #2:



    Disconnect #3:




    Thousands of packets successfully transferred since logging in and capturing the packets on each one of these, prior to 90002 disconnect error. No packet loss. Then the FFXIV server closes the TCP connection out of nowhere by sending the FIN TCP flag, which causes the 90002 Error.

    Aether data center. This just started in the evening pst time for me. lagging badly crowded or non crowded. I can see players skipping around me and all my actions are delayed. Was disconnected standing still in eulmore. error 9006. Other players I've talked to said they are having same problems. My home connection is at max speed and no problems for anything else.

    I have been having issues with the game since 5 days ago. On some time, NordVPN to either US/Japan seems to work, but on some days like now (when it's freaking reset day and I need to play), it won't work. I seriously need help with this. It's messing with my static teams

    Hi, same problem here, since the very beginning of the month. Ps4 player here, from Chaos (Omega).
    I keep being disconnected so I basically wasted my sub this month, oof. Sometimes it looks like the problem is fixed (there're days I'm able to play decently, and even doing instance), and then the following one I'm unable to stay logged for even five minutes.
    At least I now know I'm not the only one. Since no one of my friends is having the same issue I thought it was my internet connection problem, but it works just fine as usual so...
