Whats wrong with the housing demo timer??

Unreasonable? Most often I'm out of the country in 2 week intervals. I'm sorry about I'm not using my house in that time, but playing FFXIV when I'm in another country from a hotel just isn't feasible. And then there was that time I was the sickest I'd been in years a few months ago the prevented me from playing the game for over 2 weeks. I'm sorry that I'm sick and not using my home, but life happens that I can't control. FC homes don't perform any vital functions so FC don't need homes anymore then anyone else. And especially now, in this world crisis, 2 week demolition times would be absurdly cruel. It's not like the housing demolition process is clean, I would be looking at weeks of decorating lost, 40+mil in furniture now wasted, 12 mil lost from losing the home and the sudden need to store around 700 furniture items before it gets tossed in the virtual dumpster.

With a 2 week timer, I'd have to give my password out to someone else just for me to travel abroad, which is against the rules. But that would effectively be my only option to try and save my house.

Nobody needs a house and frankly I think it's silly that they're required for access to any feature period. There should be other ways to crossbreed and other ways to access an FC workshop given that the system as it stands is so limited.

And yeah, a two week timer is pretty unreasonable as already said, business trips and vacations can easily end up in the realm of two weeks, and chaining people to the game even more than they already do to keep a house is just crappy. I'd prefer if there was enough housing to not have a timer at all, ESPECIALLY when they don't even save your furniture when your house is demolished. If you can't get on in time to save what you can, it all goes poof, including stuff that cost actual real life cash (which I also think is ridiculous in itself).

I doubt they'd fully overhaul the whole system, but if they do, instanced housing would need to have all the same features as current housing to even be all that appealing. Size, furnishing, gardening and exterior decorating, and sharing the house with friends are a big part of what I like about housing. I'd happily move to one if it meant I didn't need to worry about a demo timer, but only if it was actually, you know, a house. As opposed to the apartments we have now that are frankly vastly inferior.

One easy solution might be adding instanced ships, the those large ones for fishing or certain quests, or flying ships as instaced houses... would be kinda cool.

I used to own a house just by the MB in Lavender. Voluntarily demolished it because I can't (and won't) be forced to keep subbing/playing just to maintain a virtual house. Life happens and it feels good not having to worry about additional stressors; especially not a property in an MMO. I still remember Shirogane Savage and it was not a good experience in the slightest. Having said that, I did enjoy decorating and coming up with my own designs when I had a house. Nowadays I just play The Sims whenever I feel like decorating rooms and I'm having fun with it.

Lack of housing is the price SE willing to pay for "neighbourhood feeling", whatever that is. Whether this is worth it or not is up for debate, but at this state of the game demolition timer is a necessary evil and something I begrudgingly support given the alternative. So far I think SE has been fair regarding this; 45 days inactivity and occasional grace periods in the event of local/global disasters. Could be a lot worse I suppose.

I had another 2 tries this weekend and i really get the impression that the unlocking in the middle of the night (my timezone UTC+2) is on purpose. The first try unlocked at 03:58 and the second at 06:02.

Despite the fact that everytime a plot shows up its camped by 8 or more ppl. How im supposed to compete, as a person with a normal life, without using a bot?

I know that bots are bad and all that stuff. But seriously without using a bot to spam the place card there is not the slightest chance for someone like me to even participate long enough (until timer unlocks) to even have a chance getting the plot. This where already the 7 or 8 plot in succession that unlocked in the middle of the night or very early in the morning.

Hey, I've been trying to get a house for my FC too (and I do remember you Fiona ), anyways, there's nothing wrong about the timer, I saw a house being sold about 3 hours ago. My guess is things got absolutely terrible by the time SE suspended the demolition timer (I understand why tho, but still, it made the situation far worse than it was), as some months ago I saw multiple plots being freed everyday on Ragnarok, and many of my friends got their houses without having to compete with anyone.
I believe we should be patient until the demolition timer is introduced again, and waiting for servers to be deserted between two patches.

Im also trying to get a plot for my FC and only because i cant use a workshop in my own house. To be honest the workshop is the whole reason why i even made a FC and now i cant even use it, that's a bit frustrating. So far i didn't saw any info when the demo timer will be lifted. Thats why im seriously thinking about switching servers these days and the only real think holding me back is my medium house.

Btw. in witch timezone do you live? I seriously wonder how so many ppl on an EU Server manage to stay up for so long and click the place card manually until the timer unlocks. I don't know what you plan to do with your FC, but if you dont need your workshop i could join you if you manage to get a plot before me.

Anyway good luck with getting a plot on our server.

I live in the same timezone as you, I'm just very lucky to have quite some time to spend (too much it seems since I can stay for hours clicking a placard). I'm pretty much in the same situation as you, my medium is holding me back from switching servers. Am thinking about getting an FC home for housing purposes and getting a nice place for me and my friends but yeah, Ragnarok really is full right now. I don't mind getting you in if you like

You are right our faces look quite similar.

If you get a plot before me im gonna join you, you seem to be a nice person. I just want the workshop and having some ppl using the FC chat isnt that bad either. I could recruting some for my own FC, inviting ppl into an FC without an FC house feels awkward somehow.

Btw. if i get a plot before you, you and your buddies can join and manage my FC if you like. I will give you full rights and you can do what you want, i just want the workshop.

To make it absolutely fair if apartments became on par with the wards, it would need to be either on a demo timer or vastly more expensive if there was no demo timer.

I say this because I don't think the demo timer is going to go anywhere, but I also don't see them addressing the ward issue until after Ishgard housing is fully accessible.
