With this system rich would be the only people who has a house in the first place. It's not even favoring, it's just gifting it to them.Still not sure why they dont have a blind auction system.
Example :
Bidding timer lasts a day or two
Bidding starts at 3mil for a small
You can put in any amount at or above that
You have no idea if anyone else has bid or what amount they have bid
If you lose the bid the gil gets returned to you
This system would favor the rich of course, but at least its not as random and it would be an even better gil sink.

Yeah all it would do is shift the demographic of who doesn't have access to housing. It wouldn't actually solve the problem, especially if there are half as many rich people as I've seen suggested around the forums (just going by how often I see people say there's way too much Gil in this game).
I already have a house, but if I didn't I absolutely wouldn't stand a chance of getting a house with an uncapped auction system. It took me years to be able to afford a medium as is. :/

From what I know, between crafters, Coil raiders and Legacy players, there were already a (few?) hundred of players who were already above 50M if not 100M back in ARR.
A lot of items for craft, coming from CT serie, coil serie, ex trials were sold above 1M when it was not above 10M. Materias were pretty expensive too. But relic was a pretty efficient gils sink. Eureka items, at the release, were a good way to make gils too (materias, mount, minions). Gathering was (is) a good way to make gils for the FCs aeronefs (and expeditions items are often still rather expensive).
If you consider RMT, I highly suspect there are now a lot more players who are above 50M, if not 100M (or even above).

Yeah, and as someone who didn't craft until Ishgard restoration and didn't touch Eureka, I've only just now even come close to 25mil lmaoFrom what I know, between crafters, Coil raiders and Legacy players, there were already a (few?) hundred of players who were already above 50M if not 100M back in ARR.

Lot of crazy rich players, but I'm willing to bet there are a lot of not so rich players too. I'm not inactive, I just don't play the crafting and market board games. x.x I'd have to effectively change my entire playstyle to compete in a system where housing favored rich players lmao

Of course, I know some who are around 5/6M and who feel it is enough for them.
I'm not a fan of auctions system.
My ideal system is somehow this :
everyone can get a plot (I don't mind if there is a limitation such as shared with alt)
everyone can buy a little house
the start price is reasonable
people can buy options
Only with IG currencies, of course.
More or less, as a result :
the plot would be from 500k to 1M
the little house would be from 1M to 3M
but options could make the price rise and you can end with a castel but it can worth more than 300M the building only (or even more)
The only difference between players would be the time they spend to reach the level they want. Some will take one year, big FCs will maybe take only six months, but some people wouldn't mind if it takes seven years since they know they will not lose house and they can make interesting things anyway.
Even RMT would end as less interesting since it is just a matter of time to get what we want, rather than to have to rush, especially for new players.
