Not sure where to post this bit of confusion

Tried to create a character on Balmung with the name Hermana - it means sister in Spanish. For some reason I keep getting the 1003 error when I put it and *any last name*, so I'm assuming it's the Hermana part. I don't know what is offensive about 'sister' in Spanish? Is there something I'm missing?

Sorry if this isn't the place for it; I honestly just have no idea where I'd post something like this. Why can't I make a character with the first name Hermana????

If your last names that you tried started with an L that would likely be the reason. I'll let you figure out why. A quick test let me create characters with Hermana as a first name using several last names starting with random letters. Only L was being blocked. Also, a quick search on the Lodestones shows several characters with Hermana as a first name or a last name so it's not that word itself.

You clearly already have a character on Balmung. Are you only paying the Entry subscription cost, not the Standard? Entry only allows 1 character per server.

The 1003 error they mentioned is specifically for when a name is rejected: "That character name cannot be used. Please input another."

I guess your answer may be more accurate perhaps lol. I don't know how or if the censors cross check both name strings like one word.

I would guess they do, since it already does this with the in-game profanity filter and my limited testing just now in the character creator supports it. I want to say that the in-game filter can even check across 3 words since I'm pretty sure I've seen the ???'s appear when 'it' was a word between two other words that happened to end and start with the right (wrong?) letters.

Yeah, that's been my experience with the profanity filter. It picks up and blocks out "a specific sequence of letters" whether it's a single word or split apart with spaces or just happens to coalesce out of a perfectly innocent sentence.

Thanks, everyone, I appreciate your input. You're right, the last name I was using did start with an 'L' and I tried several variations of it. When I tried doing a search on the lodestone I didn't see anyone with the name Hermana, so I assumed that was the issue. I really appreciate it. I'm actually really relieved that the word Hermana wasn't the issue but the L that follows it, and now I know why. Thanks again everyone. I feel silly for not having noticed it, but now that I understand the issue, it makes more sense.
