    Recent increase in latency

    Hello,

I've noticed over the past two weeks I've had a sudden but consistent doubling of my ping in FFXIV up to around 200ms (which makes hitting 5 cast Delirium and Blood Weapon windows impossible if double weaving... which is kind of important for a DRK rotation... which makes me a sad panda.) I don't have any latency issues when accessing any other games, only Final Fantasy 14, which is why I come to this forum today, to find out if there is any guidance I can receive on trying to fix this situation. I've contacted my ISP to see if there is anything weird going on, and they haven't found anything out of the ordinary. I am hardwired directly into the modem, the amount of devices connected to my modem has not gone up, and nothing else has changed that I am aware of, that could cause this issue... Now, normally I would chalk this up to just potential weirdness on my side, or various other networking issues, but several other members of my Static have also claimed to be experiencing a similar jump in their latency in the past two or three weeks.

Below is the tracert to the NA data center from my location, unfortunately I was unable to find out any information that would help pinpoint the jumps and their location (and if I was going well out of my way for some reason, particularly the one that is clearly much different than the others). As I live in the middle of the US, the fact that I'm getting slower tracert times than similar queries run from NYC (80) and even Berlin (170) is a little baffling.

Any help or further guidance would be greatly appreciated! Thank you for your time!

    -Moo Roo

Good afternoon and thank you for posting in the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums,

Please try the following troubleshooting steps:

    - The game will use the Internet Explorer web browser to connect to the internet. Open Internet Explorer, then open the "Tools" setting, go to "Internet Options" and adjust the following settings:
    - Under the "General" tab, please delete ALL browser history.
    - Under the "Security" tab, please move the slider to the lowest possible settings or no higher than "Medium"
    - Under the "Privacy" tab, click “Advanced” and select ‘Accept’ under both First Party and Third Party Cookies.
    - Under the "Advanced" tab, please make sure that "Allow software to run or install even if signature is invalid" is CHECKED.
    - Make sure that all SSL and TLS (EXCEPT SSL 3.0) are CHECKED. [SSL 3.0 should be UNCHECKED]
    - Hit "Apply" to save the settings, and then "OK, to close the Internet Options menu.
    - Please RESTART your PC now. Once your PC has been restarted, Right-Click the FFXIV launcher icon once more and select "Run as Administrator"

-Make sure your fire wall or antivirus program is not interfering with the game

    - Check to see if the following port ranges are opened on your router. You can contact your ISP and request they open them for you:
    ▼TCP
    54992 through 54994,
    55006 through 55007,
    55021 through 55040

-Try disabling background applications and do a clean boot by opening the task manager and selecting the “Start up” tab. Disable everything and then restart the PC.

I've accomplished these steps, have not been able to confirm whether or not the changes have fixed anything. Will report after raid this evening. Thank you!

Sadly, it doesn't seem like these steps have helped my situation. :'( I am still getting the same lag happening, the tracert does lead me to believe it might be something happening at someplace between me and you guys, but I'm honestly not sure at this point... Networking is straight wizardry to me lol
