FF XI -> XIV Character Registration

So I've been thinking about Final Fantasy XI a bit lately(mostly about the people I played with). Aside from using the XI character/server name option it isn't really easy to track down people you used to play with in XI. Would it be possible to eventually implement a character registration using your SE account and the Lodestone to make it easier to find people you may have lost touch with?
