I've just started playing on patch day (5.3) and I've been getting the same DirectX Error 11000002 crash all day. And I'm playing it on a gaming laptop too.

Just finished downloading the update and logging in for a test run, I had several graphical anomalies like clusters of black boxes in the character selection screen, then circles of colored light and screen fading when I was walking around. It would usually crash and give the Directx error within minutes, with the crash occurring sooner and sooner with each subsequent login attempt. I tried changing settings, turning Directx11 on and off (since DX9 isn't supported anymore), I was told to start in windowed mode but I always play in windowed mode so it isn't that... the patch definitely did something screwy, because I've never had this error before. I'd hate to have to drop the game (more irritating since I just bought some in-game items the same afternoon) but if I can't even log in, then... cest la vie.
Having issues since updating here. Some without pop-ups, some with DX11 errors. Restarting my PC and updating my drivers have not helped. I think it might be tied to populations because it didn't seem to be a problem earlier when I was alone in a zone.
EDIT: I am going to try reinstalling, so I will be reporting back here to see if it helps for anyone else having issues.

I had a problem with my launcher once i patched for 5.3, then as nobody was responding to my ticket, I reinstalled the game and now I SUDDENLY have direct x11 problems. https://i.imgur.com/HTOG8U4.png
I've never had a problem with direct x 11 in the years I've played on this pc. No idea why its just suddenly broken, but I've spent literally 11 hours trying to get the game to work and it won't. I can't even install direct x 9.
{EDIT}
I got mine fixed by installing this:

I never had any issues before but ever sicne the 5.3 patch today I am constantly crashing and now I am unable to load into the game at all. I have tried redownlaoding the game, clean installing graphic drivers, moving the game to another drive, redownloading the c++ distributables, I tried the install in the message above and that didnt work either. I dont know what else to do![]()
Was was able to play just fine in/around Rhalgar's reach and then teleport to Gold Saucer. The minute I load into Crystarium, I crashed and haven't been able to log back in.
Already tried DX9/DX11.
Different resolutions under the sun.
Fullscreen/borderless
Made sure MS game mode was still disabled
Restore Sunday's backup of the game folder. Reloaded that, and re-patched a 2nd time. No luck. (Was playing just fine on Sunday btw)
My PC's fairly powerful. No reason why my RTX 2080TI FE is crashing when running this game. Every other game in my library works just fine today. FFXIV is the only one crashing since the patch.
An unexpected error has occurred. Exitting Final Fantasy XIV. 2020-07-1_14:39

Yesterday I was playing just fine around Eulmore, but I teletransported back to Ul'dah and the game crashed. Since then I have not been able to log in, it always crash in the loading screen.
I have fully updated Windows 10 and up to date graphic drivers (Nvidia 1070).
I don't think I had this kind of crashes since Shadowbringer's launch.
It seems the game crashes not only once, but 4 times (lol), since it shows 4 error messages.

Exact same issue here, i have played this game for over 10k hours, and never had this issue.
Earlier today i had some of these Crashes in kholusia and had problem getting in but repeatedly doing so worked after 19 attempts.
Then got locked in Gold saucer the same way. Managed to get out of it doing repeatedly logging in and crashing and move to Goblet and was fine for the whole day. Then last night i Teleported to the Crystarium and been unable to get on ever since with the identical errors as you have ever since. several error windows, with the identical error messages.
And for square, stop treating us like children and just quoting the same stuff, we have attempted most of your suggestions already and so have i. Done every single suggestion and attempt that has been done here and in other threads.
Thought i wait until early this morning to try when there is less people online, but just tried 10 times to log in and same error messages and crash.
EDIT:
This is the only game that does these crashes. All other games works just fine.
Also logging in to a character not in these areas works just fine. But Crystarium have completely locked down my main character.

The same is happening to me.
Everything worked fine before I went to Limsa to accept the Moonfire Faire Quest.
Tp'd to Limsa, took the Aetherite to the Aftcastle and since then I can't log in. The game keeps crashing in the loading screen.
