As a Alienware laptop user with a NVIDIA Control Panel, do I change the max frame rate to 72?After weeks of trial error, and occasional crashes here is my findings:
First I should mention that my setup basically has the game running at 144 FPS, and I doubt that this information is reflected when system summary is generated from ffxiv's tool.
My crashes turned out to be essentially GPU hitting 100% Utilization.
While this should not be an issue, there is a relation that can be observed. Open "Task Manager" and go to Performance > GPU and look at the graph with 3D on it's top left corner.
Aside from the occasional screen activation spikes, if you reach 100% while playing, you are most likely to get Fatal Error 11000002
- Solution 1:
Opt out of Dx11 and use Dx9
This ensured that my game does indeed function however with occasional freezes where Dx11 would just straight crash.
For a fast solution, this works.
- Solution 2:
If you have multiple programs consuming your GPU's 3D processing, stop/close them.
However this is not a guaranteed solution, as your GPU can hit 100% Utilization.
- Solution 3:
Drop frame rate.
Playing the game at half the frame rate (72 FPS in my case) helped a lot.
My GPU Utilization is around 40% and no crashes for the past 3 weeks or so.
Hope this can help a fellow WoL/D
I wonder if Admins/GMs actively track this thread
