Thank you for the reply Nashens.

Try some of the following troubleshooting if you haven't done so already:

1) Do a clean reinstall of your graphics card drivers.

2) Close any unnecessary programs, including any overlays (Geforce Experience, Steam Overlay, etc.)

3) Turn off Fullscreen Optimizations. Right click the FFXIV boot file and select properties. Then under the compatibility tab there will be a check box labeled "Disable Full Screen Optimizations". Check it and click apply.

4) Try a clean boot. Simply open the task manager and select the 'Start up' tab. Disable everything here and restart the PC. This will make sure that no background processes are interfering with the game.

Hello guys,

I am having the exact same trouble - open launcher, sign in, press play and ge t the message.

So far I have tried most of the things online, like anybody else, however the only thing that has worked for me was to restart computer, and before anything else launched (Discord, Epic launcher etc.), to get to Steam and start it off. And if I ever turned the game off, I would have to do another restart/clean boot.

Now here comes the funny thing, and don't take it for granted yet as it worked twice only so far, my Wallpaper engine crashed while playing the game first time due to RAM leak (kinda funny when having 32GBs but that's not the point)...

The fact that wallpaper engine crashed is the only different thing that has changed on my side in the past 3 weeks of having this trouble and this is the first and only time I am turning the game on and off - I will continue to test this tomorrow and let you know.

Reason why I am replying this is I noticed you have Wallpaper engine as well running in background from the report - try to shut it down and let us know if it changed anything.

So I've tried all of these and none work, I've noticed that it works fine when I restart Steam, but only if I play it first. If I play any game before FF14 it will have the error, and if I want to play it I need to restart Steam over and over again.

Could you try running the game on windowed mode or borderless fullscreen? Additionally, is anything over heating when the crash occurs? Do you have a way of monitoring these temperatures?

Players pop up with this error randomly, and every time the forum admins try to tell people to do the same thing, and ever time it does not work. There is a problem with the client exe, with most people it has something to do with a program called "Mactype" but for others who don't even have that installed, the cause is unknown. Most of these people can get the game running by launching FFXIV through GeForce experience. This needs to be fixed ASAP, its very bothersome to have to do this -.-
