Ishgardian Restoration - 30m is not enough heads-up time for the FATE

For the Ishgardian Restoration, you get a 30m heads-up after filling the donations bar that the FATE will come up.

30m is not enough time for a lot of people, especially considering the website updates at 1h intervals:
    https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodes...rogress_report

Lots of people end up missing out because the 30m timer is so short and the FATE afterwards can be completed in 10-20m.

    I suggest:
    - make the heads-up timer something longer, like 4h, or have set date/times where the FATE will happen
    - make the website update faster instead of at 1h intervals
    - make it such that you can participate in other server's FATEs again BUT remove script rewards on non-home-world servers. That way people don't congest the Firmament like before, but people that want to see a FATE happen can still participate.

Edit: adding it to the beginning post:

So I ended up just making a StreamDeck plugin to display the progress percentage like the web page does so I don't have to keep opening up the webpage.

If you have a StreamDeck and want to try it out I have the source and installation on github: https://github.com/momokotomoko/ffxi...tTrackerPlugin

in a game that runs 24/7 you can't satisfy everyone. if you miss it, eh you miss it.

If I'm the one who was filling the bar and finished it, I prefer it short rather than something several hour later that I may not be able to attend. TBH

If you are playing and checking regulary since the beginning, you should be able to approximately calculate it by now when the bar will be full on your server, so you actually have a lot of time to prepare in advance. Just check regularly how the progress is going, expect it to be usually going faster on "prime-time" and the week-end and you won't be much off. Maybe not by the hour but at least that "tomorrow evening I should watch out for it" or something like "it's getting close by now, I should propably check again in two hours" . There may also be some discord-servers out there for your datacenter where people are keeping track and pinging you when the time comes or when it's getting close to be finished.

And not every fate starts 30 minutes after. Sometimes you have 8 hours before the next fate to going to start.

Anyone who contributed to the bar early on filled the bar just the same as the last guy who did it.

    > "it's getting close by now, I should propably check again in two hours"
You'd likely miss it by checking every 2h, which is the problem. If the heads-up time was 2h then checking every 2h would be viable.

It re-starts in 8h when the FATE fails.

Without any changes to the current system, the only optimal way is to wait till the bar is almost full then submit all your items to pop it so you can guarantee the pop time for yourself.

Some of the stages of the restoration have two(or maybe 3?) sequential steps. One happens 30 mins after the bar fills, the next auto-ques for 8 hours later with a timer running for all of Ishgard to see. I was there when my server hit one of these milestones. Got home from work, logged in to see that there was a fate in 15 minutes. Our server successfully finished it in 10-15 mins, and it popped up that the next fate was 7 hours and 59 minutes away. This was actually on an update night(and on my day off, so i stayed up for both). So an hour before the update we had a fate, then 3 hours after server came back we had another. One was sweeping, the other was laying concrete.

And in general about these fates, we have 38 chances(not counting any failure states) to help out with the general works for stage two. Missing a few isnt that big of a deal(ive missed 75% of them on my server so far).

Not really. There are 38 steps in total, but filling the bar is a step and a fate is another. For example: Step 1 is filling the bar by crafting, then the fate happens (step 2) and then we are back at filling the bar by crafting (step 3).
I don't know how many 'follow-up right after a fate' fates there are (also counting as a step) but I guess it should be around ~25 fates in total (without failed fates).

    This.
You won't get everything the game has to offer. That's just the crux of a living breathing game environment.

You might be right about this, i havent actually payed attention to an intense degree. I was thinking 38 fates for two reasons. The first, is that ive seen the website update to show a full bar and stay that way for a couple hours. On its own, that would mean nothing. But every fate ive done(even just sweeping) has been accompanied by a minor in-game cinematic/animation that blocks your view with the zone being changed afterwards. Bigger changes also had larger cinematics, and these were followed by the skybuilders board being updated. That was my thinking, if its wrong so be it. And 25 is still a lot of chances to participate in stage 2 of the rebuilding. Looking at the map, stage 3(and beyond probably) still has a lot of work to do.
