I personally prefer the stuff we have for free in-game. The stuff on the mogstation are too gaudy and costume-like.I just wish they'd make in game stuff more interesting, it really feels like they're making stuff look worse every patch so people are tempted to glam with mogstation stuff.
Remember the primal gearsets from hw? Those had themes for each role that looked unique. Now everything is sloppy fabrics that look boring and similar on everyone.
I am 80% convinced that they know exactly what they're doing by putting more flamboyant stuff up on the mog and giving us boring outfits. Even the raid gear looks kinda meh in my opinion this tier. Remember coil gear? with the crazy wings and stuff? The alex gearsets? Those had a really cool theme going on. Yeah. I remember. I would not expect anything like that at all anymore because it's just going to go up on the mog while we get recolours, rags or basic armor.
Not only that, there's so much to choose from already that is free in-game, but I guess this is all just a matter of taste.
You might think it's clownish, but at least it fits like clothes that FIT, not rags that have been draped on.
Tome gear then vs tome gear now for casters vs mogstation dress:

Like I said in my previous post, Might sound harsh but it's how I feel. You don't have to feel the same way, but saying we're just getting worked up over a mumu, is just condescending for no reason, don't need to talk us down as if we're children. I truly believe that a concern on quality going down is a valid concern since it doesn't seem to go down on the mogstation.
They run a sale every summer that's 30% off almost everything. They exclude the newest items that were added and maybe a few other things. It's when I decide to stock up on mounts, minions, bardings and emotes and declare it a late birthday present to myself.
After looking at it a few times, I agree. This would be Killer Healer & Caster Glam if we could get rid of those wings.
For me, it's the fact that we already pay a subscription fee to even play the game. On top of that, this game suffers from insane item bloat, but they can't give us another free retainer (but will happily charge you monthly for more). Add in a companion app that you can pay for to give you a (slight) leg up if you're a MB player. Then you have a rather large cash shop that is priced more in line with what a F2P game will charge you. Not all outfits are dyeable. Not all mounts are shared. Glamour items can't be stored in the armoire (but you can buy more storage, so who cares!).
I get that SE is a business, and they are generally out to make a profit. That's all fine and dandy. But then you have a game like XIV, and I personally find it be be severely lacking in a lot of ways - even compared to F2P or B2P games. People love to claim that cash shop funds are going back into this game, but where are we really seeing this? Why are server limitations constantly being blamed for why they can't implement someting? Why is housing such poo? Why are Viera & Hroth still unfinished? Why are we getting less dungeons, no deep dungeon, and whatever else has been cut recently? Why can't they fix these items....but still pump out outfit and outfit, and more emotes...all for the cash shop?
Perhaps there is some truth that there is in fact a separate cash shop team (has SE ever confirmed this?), but that's a relatively moot point to me. SE is still the one controlling all the various teams who produce anything for XIV. For how much money they seemingly pull from the playerbase, it's not reflected in-game IMO.
I know this is comparing apples to oranges but boy, if you people make a fuzz about this I don't want to see how you'd react to how Blizzard manages their ingame stores. Having a new outfit put in the store is not scummy business, it's literally just business, you lose NOTHING of the game if you don't have it - Having said outfit locked behind RNG on a lootbox you have to pay for, and/or is a limited time item is scummy business.
It's not perfect, but far from scummy. And as far as I know (stopped playing a few years ago already) WoW doesn't have lootboxes, but their other games all do.Does WoW actually have RNG lootboxes to buy? Genuinely asking - I've never touched the game. But yeah, those should be a thing for F2P games, and if WoW actually sells them, that's crap. However, just because a game may handle things worse, doesn't mean that XIV's cash shop is perfect.

They also had one back in Winter and I /think/ one in the Spring? Generally I expect a sale every season or so - though the summer sale tends to be the biggest.
So we're supposed to be happy with something we don't like because another company does it worse? lol?
