But then that would mean adding bonuses for having sets, for items that do not already require a set. And it could also mean you could meet the requirements and STILL mix and match. It could lead to quite an interesting balance issue. Especially if you can go back and forth.

Here be the deal y'mangy, curs. If ye' want to be quittin' the Maelstrom, yer free t'go -- but ye'll be taking t'first step o'that journey off the stern o'the pride of the Crimson Fleet.

May the Navigator's waters decide if you've the mettle to change to your destiny.

Changing company with rank reset is fair enough to me but I'm staying in Maelstorm anyway (`・ω・´)ゞ.

Yay! I'm glad to hear this!

To be honest, I'm ok with having my rank reset when I switch Grand Companies.

Question, does that mean that our rank in the original Grand Company will be lost forever or would it be stored should be decide to go back to it?

The reason I would switch the grand companies is for the storyline, especially once things tweaked in 2.0.

Sigh...another one of those SE submitting to the whiner community base. SE you are pissing off the core group of players who find these types of changes detrimental to an MMO.

This world is our "fantasy" life. In it we make choices that affect our lives. If we approach the MMO world with getting everything and whatever we want the immersion of being in this fantasy world vanishes.

If you do insist to allow swap to another GC in my opinion it is equivalent to dropping rank from the military. Defecting means you are branded a traitor. You lose all your rank, points, items, gears etc. There should be no I want to switch back after moving to another...if you even allow swapping back and forth...each swap should entirely wipe out any gains from previous GC.

Really though when 2.0 hits I'd like to see that while there are remnants of the GC they have all become dissolved through the free companies.

These are the contents that are part of the current calm before the storm...life has tough choices...make them and live with them. It's not like you haven't asked and asked and asked to confirm your enlistment in the GC of your choice. It's not like you said you can only be part of this company. You put the confirmations in place. You warned that these choices are permanent. You made the player base make decisions. THEY NEED TO STICK TO THOSE DECISIONS!!!

WE as players aren't entitled to EVERYTHING. I don't want everything...if you take away the reasons to choose and the consequences of choosing you take away the life of the game...it becomes a game merely about I want this gear and that gear rather then what SE is about.

An immersion into a world a story that unfolds a realm. If you gonna just give everyone everything you might as well make cash shops for items so those that GOTTA HAVE THEM all can just buy them.

Then please exclude me from the game entirely cause the more you submit to these whiners the more you are losing your loyal fan base.

HOPEFULLY if you switch grand companies 1 of the restrictions will be that players CAN NOT use or wear other grand company uniforms or gear/weapons. This would be great to promote loyalty to their current grand company.

Changing grand companies is all well and good, however the main reason everyone wants to do so I would imagine is that a player prefers the gear of another GC over their own. I would propose a more creative solution where in you can only have say one officers coat (example) however by doing some black market business you could trade in your existing coat and some seals or gil to the black market NPC for a GC replica coat with your GCs design but another’s stats. It just seems to me that there could be more interesting solutions than punishing the player base for picking a Grand Company blindly when they first came out.

The whole 6 years and some change I was strictly Bastok except for 1 week a friend asked me to switch to Sandy and do missions with her and then 2 days later she hopped servers so I switched back to Bastok first chance I got. Moose I'm starting to think that's why people get the coin that's worth 25,000 seals, so they have the option to either use it with their current grand company or save it for a head start in their new grand company.
