I really want to switch from Uldah to grid and rank up in all the cities!!! The chocobo armor is just too cute in grid!!

It would be nice, a few of my friends joined the adders then shortly after realized that I was already in Maelstrom. It would have been nice to run with them for GC stuff.
Along this same bent it'd be nice to be able to become a "Visiting National" in other cities, to go through thier story line, for those of use that are interested in story lines. I hate starting new accts/chars for things, which is why I love FFXI/FFXIV, I can experience all the jobs/classes and in XI all the story content, with a single char, no restarts ^^

Leave Ul'Dah!? But we have Unicorn-chocobo's! Unicobo's? Chocorn's? XD
Hypothetically, if SE were to allow GC switching, I would bet all my gil that it would go down like this.
- You join GC #1 at lowest rank.
- You work your way up through the ranks.
- You switch to GC #2, entering at lowest rank and losing any seals you had from GC #1.
- You work your way up again through the ranks.
- You switch back to GC #1, losing your seals from GC #2, entering not at the rank you left, but once again at the lowest rank.
The benefit would be access to collecting GC-specific gear and barding, but the cost would be your progress within the Company. As ranks are further increased, the cost becomes great.
+1! Because I would like to switch. =/ Really upset, Yoshi said it wouldn't matter, and yet it does.

main issue is the gear. Im from uldah, signed up for lamosa for thm and Blm weapon and gear. My friend is a Cnj and will be whm and grandia has that stuff, we partner so need to help each other out the most. be niece that gear was available un iversal for all jobs.
Yeah I joined Maelstrom, not realizing my sister joined Twin Adders. To make it worse, I started in Gridania. I have Path of the Twelve quests in Ul'dah, and now I have Maelstrom quests/dealings in Lo Noscea! I'm spread way too thin, and it costs me a ton of gil, Anima or time to get from one to the other to: play with my sister, quest in Ul'dah, or get seals in Limsa. Additionally, I think it would be great to collect gear and see the story from one, then move on to another, get its gear/story and then the third. In XI people could switch their nation, so why not their Grand Company in XIV?
They attempted to add one thing, and only one thing, into this game that you could not change.
Not even a major game-breaking thing.
Just one thing.
They gave lots of information on each grand company.
They gave lots of warning that you can only join one and never change.
It is the one and only one decision in the entire world one can make that they can not go back on.
I find it a bit depressing that one is too many >.>
For future people:
1) IF you have friends, find out which GC they are in before you join yours.
I guess that's it really ^.^:
As for equipment:
All nations have something good. Malestorm has a lovely pair of Officer's Boots I want (Magic Accuracy!), Gridinia has a lovely pair of Gloves I want (Magic Potency!). Fortunately Ul'dah has a Cudgel I want (+43 Magic Accuracy!).
There is something good everywhere, however due to balancing restrictions you can't have everything good everywhere. If that were the case I doubt very much I would wear anything but GC equipment ^.^;
I have this nagging feeling that only folks who join a gc before the cataclysm will ever be able to join a GC, and free companies will be the new thing everyone can access in the aftermath.
