Gil has a super high cap and if you have a goal in mind in how much Gil you want to earn, you’ll just keep farming until you reach your goal.

I agree there should be Gil sinks, but there needs to be easier way of getting Gil in the 1st place that’s not just exclusive to crafting & gathering.

I farm Gil doing Hunt Bills, but once you run out, that’s it, farming ends. Unless they give us an infinite amount of hunt bills, giving us a new one when we finish one, it will have to be Fates to farm Gil. With Fates, they continue to pop and you could farm for much as you like, but the amount spent farming should be worth it and it currently isn’t.

I would like to add to my previous comment on the amount of Gil drops per Fate. I think that the “S Rank” Fates like Steropes, Dzu, or Daimyo, should give a huge Gil drop like a million and the “SS Rank” Fates like Odin, Coeurlregina, or Ixion, should give a massive Gil drop like ten million. Maybe I’m being ridiculous with the Gil amount, but they should definitely hike the Gil drop, because once you got what you need from those Fates, you would most likely skip them from then on, making it tougher for new people to do them. We always are in need of Gil, which is why crafters & gatherers are needed, so we can buy their merchandise.
Tbh, by far most of the gil I made was by selling items gained by combat (indirectly) and I can buy max Ilvl crafted gear sets quite comfortably. Look into what types of items you can buy with all your currencies and see their value on the market. It might be a little time consuming to go over them all but you will likely find a few gems.

Edit2: However I definitely wouldn't complain if fates gave bigger gil rewards, unless it would lead to major inflation.
