Pretty much as long as I've been playing XIV I've had the occasional crash out, it's the only game it happens with and it happens maybe a couple of times a month so it didn't really bother me.

This morning however I opened XIV, watched it install a minor update and logged in for all of 5 minutes before black screen 'Direct X video device not detected'. With a shrug I assumed it was just a glitch and loaded the game back up, another few minutes and the sound cuts out, so I quit out, play something in iTunes to check if my system has crashed or just the game and... it's just XIV.

I tried several more times to log in and each time it's the same, the sound cuts out or the game crashes or on one occasion one immediately followed by the other. The sound issue makes me thing it may be a sound driver bug as I recently started using a USB headset however the game ran fine yesterday - any advice?

Motherboard: MSI P55-GD80
Processor: Intel i5 760
RAM: 8GB Corsair XMS3-1600
Graphics Card: Gigabyte GTX 560ti-OC
Boot Drive (with FFXIV on it): Corsair Force3 SSD 120GB
Storage Drive: WD Green 1TB

The aforementioned headset is a Corsair Vengeance 1500 if that makes any difference, when not using the headset I use the motherboards built in sound.

I can't see anything in the latest patch that would have caused this so I'm guessing it's on my end but I'm open to suggestions, I can't even stay logged in long enough to complete leves at the moment.
