What the heck happened ??

A friend registered us for an Expert Duty. When it dinged I hit accept but his ISP dropped him and he was disconnected. I was looking at the little screen that shows who has accepted. It was tank 1/1, healer 1/1, dps 1/2, me being the dps. The screen popped off and I got a message that I had a penalty for abandoning a duty that was in progress. I didn't abandon it, but I got that message. Has this ever happened to anyone else? Should I bug it? Thanks for any feedback on this.

You get a withdrawal penalty if you cancel a queue after it pops, 3 times and you get locked out of duty finder for 30 minutes.

Been that way since... 2.3 or 2.4? They just made the notification more obvious when you get the strikes now.

I didn't cancel it. I didn't know my friend had gotten dropped and I was waiting for the duty to start.

Even if your friend accepted, if you one of you in the party "leaves" the Registering phase it counts as a penalty. The disconnect probably registered as a withdrawal. Even if it says that your friend registered, disconnecting during that still counts as a withdrawal.

Also, don't blame your friend, you left the Registering phase 2 times before that happened today. It's a 3 strikes rule.

When you queue as a party, any party member declining counts as entire party doing so. Your friend disconnecting and failing to accept the duty is taken the same as if you cancelled it yourself.

Try not to worry about it overmuch. It's just a prompt to warn you of the withdrawal penalty, and it is not actually penalizing you. If your friend's connection is dodgy enough to make this happen twice; it's probably not the best idea he goes into group content anyway.

I cancel queue a lot when I realize I didn't queue unsync so I get penalized quite a bit. Don't fret over it, it's just a 30 minute penalty, it's not like they will take away your queuing privilege after doing it too many times.

You get the message regardless of how many times its happened. You get locked out of queue'ing for a while on your third.

You also get the message if anyone in your party decided to tab out and not pay attention / went afk without saying anything / ect
