    understood. =D ...and exciting,
    but does anyone know in any more detail yet...?
    i mean, my understanding is that the 2.0 maps are compatible with the current engine and that the new maps will not all be thrust on us over one night, but instead kind of arrive slowly ... else there would have to be some kind of third set of maps to represent the in-between which seems too excessive to be possible.

    Will the 2.0 maps be compatible with the current engine? I really, really want to know.

    I'm really dying for some new environments. I'm not complaining, because I know they've been working on them for 2.0, and I wouldn't want them wasting a lot of time developing new areas for the current version when it's going to be trashed. Still, the "radical changes to in-game world" part is damn exciting. I would love it if we could see the terrain change in a meaningful way prior to 2.0. Bring it on!

    It's unlikely the 2.0 maps are compatible with the current game, mainly because the 2.0 maps are using small zones and the current world is using massive open world maps. (and a completely different server structure also)

    I am also curious to what extent the changes will be, are they going to redesign parts of the current map or just change a few places ?

    I'm not convinced they will spend a great deal of money on 1.xx so I can't see massive changes in the world map it would seem like a waste.

    Game design doesn't work that way. Geometry works in all engines as it's a basic function lol, they simply rather wait for 2.0 to make it better than incorporating it with 1.x.

    2005-2012 is a shitton of money spent on 1.x.
