Open Character Creation

Right now you need an empty slot to access the character creation screen, wouldn't it be fun if they would let us use the character creator just to play around with ideas and try out new designs or simply create a character look as reference when you draw something FFXIV related?

i would love that, what do you guys think?

I would like that, too. How often do I sit there and think "meh, I'd really like to try out this or that, just to see how a character can look like". We can still be asked to pay if we start to play.

I had this thought the other day. The real issue is that SE sells character slots, while most MMOs don't. So for the other games, there's no need for a preview ability; you can just make a character.

I really think it's odd that we have separate charges for characters and service... with the amount of time things can take ingame, most people won't even want more than one character. The mindset is probably that we don't NEED more than one since any character can do anything, so we have to pay for something above and beyond the basics.

you can even save presets with the current creation when its available so it would be cool if they would add a character creation button on the character select screen, it would also be great for showing your friends what you can do if they are interested in the game. they could lock it to just character and class previews and stop before the choose a city or server selections.
