Good morning and thank you for the reply.

We apologize for any inconvenience this issue has caused. Are you able to try and connect directly to the router if you are using WiFi? Additionally, could you try the following?

    - Configure the Internet Explorer web browser
Final Fantasy XIV will use the Internet Explorer web browser to connect to the internet. As such, it needs to have the proper configurations to avoid connection issues. Adjust the following settings in the Internet Explorer (not Microsoft Edge) web browser.
Open the IE browser, open the "Tools", go to "Internet Options" and adjust the following settings:
    - Under the "General" tab, please delete ALL browser history.
    - Under the "Security" tab, please move the slider to the lowest possible settings or no higher than "Medium"
    - Under the "Privacy" tab, click “Advanced” and select ‘Accept’ under both First Party and Third Party Cookies.
    - Under the "Advanced" tab, please make sure that "Allow software to run or install even if signature is invalid" is CHECKED.
    - Make sure that all SSL and TLS (EXCEPT SSL 3.0) are CHECKED. [SSL 3.0 should be UNCHECKED]
    - Hit "Apply" to save the settings, and then "OK, to close the Internet Options menu.

Thank you for visiting the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums

Dynratygus, I configured IE like you said. My game just crashed after less than five minutes, the fastest crash yet.

Would default privacy and security settings in Internet Explorer really cause all our games to crash in the same way? If the game is going to be dependent on IE in the background, why wouldn't they have developed the game to be compatible with default browser settings?

ArnimZola, that is an interesting thread on its own merits. Although I doubt it is related to my crash, I will look into preventing text input from engaging the GPU, because I agree something as simple as typing on the computer should not touch the GPU. Do you happen to know why MS did that, or whether there are any drawbacks to disabling that hardware parameter? Could it be related to font smoothing or rendering? How did you first notice your text input was hitting the GPU? Because you heard the fans kick on?
