Game still crashes without errors, as weeks go by

FFXIV crashes randomly without errors. This has been going on now for quite some time.

To fix this, I tried the following:
    1) Reinstalling Windows 10, drivers, and the game
    2) Running the game on a Standard user account
    3) Running the game on a new standard account, with no startup programs, only the game by itself
    4) Running the game on lower settings
    5) The whole list of "solutions" found below
    6) Running the game after prayer

I am not the only person with this problem (see: https://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/...=1#post5334257). Many of us have common, relatively high-end, current generation gaming PCs. Little does it matter, we all face the same issue of random crashes.

    In one post, Einmimiria asked:

Good morning and thank you for posting on the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

When exactly did this start happening? Do you recall anything changing/updating on your PC that coincides with this?

Do you notice any patterns to this error? Does it only occur in certain locations or while doing certain actions?

We hope we can be of assistance in helping you enjoy the exciting world of Final Fantasy XIV!
...to which my response is the same as the player's in that thread. The crashes began happening around patch 5.25.

"The crashes started occurring about a week before patch 5.25 was released," Susano wrote. "And then slowly became more frequent after that. There are no patterns that I am aware of with the crashes currently. The crashes also seem to happen anywhere. In instanced content, overworld maps, to even cities and hub areas. No specific actions seem to trigger this either. It just seems completely random."

This has been my experience, as well as many others.

And what of the others? To others with my issue, Rhaervis often says:

Good morning and thank you for posting on the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

Have any changes happened to the device before the issue began? We would also like to recommend several other troubleshooting steps:

    1) Make sure that your hardware is not overheating and remove any overclocks you may have on your graphics card or processor. Please check that any fans or vents are clear of blocks.
    2) Disable any additional programs that could cause interference with the game itself including chat programs. Also, remove any custom configurations made using graphics driver-level programs.
    3) Turn off Fullscreen Optimizations. Find the executable file for the game (normally found in the install folder), right-click it and select 'Properties'. Under the 'Compatibility' tab, check the box labeled 'Disable Fullscreen Optimizations', then click 'Apply'.
    4) Remove any unnecessary USB or audio devices (controllers, headphones, flash drives etc.)
    5) Update and reinstall the drivers for your graphics card
    6) Install FINAL FANTASY XIV and Windows onto the same drive (preferably the C:/ drive if possible)
    7) Perform a clean boot by opening the task manager and select the 'Start up' Tab. Disable everything

Thank you for visiting the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.
I have performed checks 1-7, including altering the properties of both ff14 and dx11 .exe files. Also, I do not run overlays. I do not have discord installed on my PC. I do not mod the game with applications used for raiding.

I notice that in some threads both Rhaervis and Einmimiria contribute these same lists of questions in the same thread. Threads regarding this crash don't so much close, as trail off, with players politely taking turns guessing at what could be going on behind the scenes, without any follow-up from forum moderators or the people they report to. There must be a chain of command, right? What are they saying?

Everyone has been really cool not to attack the forum helpers, here. However, there are no reports of any solution in the works. Meanwhile, we are all paying subscriptions on a game that doesn't run.

Try disabling background apps from running, and if you have Microsoft Edge, make sure to not let it run in the background, you can't delete or disable it, I've tried. Also make Internet Explorer your default browser (the launcher uses IE). Don't OC your GPU and CPU.

I played for quite a while with no crashes on Friday when I made the above changes.

Thank you for the advice. I am now using Internet Explorer as my primary browser. The game still crashes. Weird!

Run it as Admin, no background apps running, especially Microsoft Edge, and no OCs.

I do not overclock my system. By the way did you read my whole post? You are offering advice that does not necessarily apply here. MS Edge runs in the background by default on any clean Windows 10 installation. If FF XIV can't handle that, then I'm sorry.

Hey man, I'm just trying to help. I've been having crashing issues, dx11 errors since HW and did my fair share of research on how to fix it.

I did read your post but if you're going to act like an ass then good luck with your problem!!!

Has anyone heard anything from Square Enix or a person who actually works on the game? Moderators: Does the company ever communicate with moderators, if enough different people are all having the same issue? Just curious if I should keep trying to find an answer, or maybe they don't care...

Good morning and thank you for the reply.

We apologize for any inconvenience this issue has caused. Are you able to try and connect directly to the router if you are using WiFi? Additionally, could you try the following?

    - Configure the Internet Explorer web browser
Final Fantasy XIV will use the Internet Explorer web browser to connect to the internet. As such, it needs to have the proper configurations to avoid connection issues. Adjust the following settings in the Internet Explorer (not Microsoft Edge) web browser.
Open the IE browser, open the "Tools", go to "Internet Options" and adjust the following settings:
    - Under the "General" tab, please delete ALL browser history.
    - Under the "Security" tab, please move the slider to the lowest possible settings or no higher than "Medium"
    - Under the "Privacy" tab, click “Advanced” and select ‘Accept’ under both First Party and Third Party Cookies.
    - Under the "Advanced" tab, please make sure that "Allow software to run or install even if signature is invalid" is CHECKED.
    - Make sure that all SSL and TLS (EXCEPT SSL 3.0) are CHECKED. [SSL 3.0 should be UNCHECKED]
    - Hit "Apply" to save the settings, and then "OK, to close the Internet Options menu.

Thank you for visiting the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums

Try disabling the Microsoft text input application.

Dynratygus, I configured IE like you said. My game just crashed after less than five minutes, the fastest crash yet.

Would default privacy and security settings in Internet Explorer really cause all our games to crash in the same way? If the game is going to be dependent on IE in the background, why wouldn't they have developed the game to be compatible with default browser settings?

ArnimZola, that is an interesting thread on its own merits. Although I doubt it is related to my crash, I will look into preventing text input from engaging the GPU, because I agree something as simple as typing on the computer should not touch the GPU. Do you happen to know why MS did that, or whether there are any drawbacks to disabling that hardware parameter? Could it be related to font smoothing or rendering? How did you first notice your text input was hitting the GPU? Because you heard the fans kick on?
