This game needs way more wards!

They're usually in the same thread. Like somebody else mentioned, there's literally a post on page 2 here talking about apartments. It's an oft posted solution to there just not being enough housing. I vaguely remember one thread where we spent like three pages straight debating the value of gardening and why current apartments are insufficient as a solution - usually because someone tends to come into a complaint thread about lack of housing and say "we have instanced housing, it's apartments!"

No. We don't. Not without some massive improvements to them. Otherwise it's an FC room without an FC, and I use mine basically for storage and nothing else right now.

And yet not one person on this thread went to the housing Forums and made a post in regards to improving Apartments, not one. My point is people are quick to make new threads about Wards and Instance Housing but could care less about trying to fix apartments.

People have posted about it. The dev team is notoriously slow about implementing features. Case in point, people asked for years about marker placement tools. It took a third party program to actually get them to implement their own variation of it.

And you are right, the team prioritizes based on the biggest demand, which based on the Forums, more Wards. The point I'm trying to make is if people make a big enough wave about upgrading Apartments the devs might actually look into it over adding new more wards

People have definitely asked for improvements to apartments. Just because you may not see a flood of them here, it doesn't mean it hasn't been done. Houses ARE the bigger draw however, so it makes sense there would be more requests related to the homes.

And I agree but also understand they come with an inherit technique flaw from the games design which causes their limit. Better to focus on things that can be change with meaningful changes than those that can't.

I don't think people not making threads specifically asking for better apartments means they don't care about them. I don't frequent the housing forums at all so I really don't know what goes on there, but from a lot of what I've seen it seems to be that people just want other solutions. They want the system as a whole to be fixed, in several different forms. Everyone has a different idea of what that solution would look like. Personally I'd prefer an entirely different system where we have instanced wards - as in, each plot is instanced so they look like they do now but the doorway to the plot is where the instance line is. A bit like BDO style housing.

But that'd require a massive change with odds of happening close to zero, so more wards + instanced housing/better apartments + different types of wards (townhouses, multi-level plots, etc) are the suggestions I usually throw out there.

Point being just because you see it less often doesn't mean people haven't asked for it or that people don't care about apartments. It's just not necessarily the most popular or desired solution, or may not necessarily take that exact form when discussed.

Oh dear, i thought it would be like that. Atleast now i know for sure, the thing with the addional retainer also crossed my mind. To bad there is no easy way for stuff like this and all i want is just a plot for the FC house. :/
On the other hand there are a lot of nice plots free on the other servers, even in Shiro. All small, but that wouldnt be sutch a big issue. But i would need store about 400-500 housing items somewhere. -_-

I'm fairly certain the dev could make apartments better if the community would make actual post about it, but they would rather make 600 post about needing more wards and not being about to own the mansion on the hill. Apartments are instance housing, tell SE how to fix them ><

Unless something has changed in very recent communications, Square Enix and the dev team, have made it abundantly clear that they (A) are not going to change(fix) the current housing system (B) are currently happy with the limitations on apartments. Knowing this, and how how rabid XIV defenders can be, people just don't bother to ask for things like that; Instead, they ask for what the dev team has shown they're willing to do, slap a new band-aid solution onto the system.

Howsing is a means for FF14 to get more monthly subscribers since people don't want to lose their house. They won't ever change this because it keeps people like me subbed when I don't play just to prevent demolition since you can't have extra space without spending money to store your 300+ housing items, where many are event items that cannot be repurchased without real money. They really set it up so you are punished for not paying for your sub. Except well, right now since they suspended demolition assuming it doesn't glitch.

It is a possibility but when I compare housing with other MMOs, housing in FFXIV is a bad rework of the Aion housing system without the auctions but with more wards.

The consequence is, for all players who wish housing as a QoL, a place for their collections, some kind of nest that can be personalized as it could be in Wildstar, they are totally ignored and then... have no reason the keep a sub active when they fed up with the roulette routine.

I have lost two mansions. The housing as the reason to keep a sub active sounds to me as a very wrong way to consider housing even with subscription matters. Aion show off without the show since... it is pretty easy to have the gils. The "personalization"? Well, the aesthetic by the designers and no way for players to be creative... unless they deal with some meaningless glitchs (some are nice, don't get me wrong, but some just look as a lazy development or... a total missunderstanding of what players can expect from housing) and mostly only for interiors.

To compare with Wildstar, the way SE consider housing is really rigid. It looks somehow like some boring district from a dormitory city.

Even the social aspect has been killed since they opened housing to individual, many many wards are just ghost towns.
