FFXIV data usage?

What is the average amount of data that ffxiv uses? I will be moving soon and unfortunately going from unlimited internet use to a capped 10gb limit per month.

I've really been enjoying the game lately and don't want to give it up quite yet, but with that limit... I'm not sure how much I can play.

You should be fine w that kind of limit....however if you are concerned about your bandwidth usage....there are bandwidth limiting programs out there, so you could set a max download and upload speed for a specific program. I did this with xi while at work, cuz w/o it on it was really apparent that i was hogging all the bandwidth ....and yeah boss didnt like that much.

It really depends on how congested your server is. The S/R numbers at the corner is actually the about of kb (kilobit not kilobyte!) is currently being used, so no the game by itself doesn't use alot of bandwidth. It's actually theoretically possible to play this game on dail-up however the latency will kill your performance with the game.



You should be fine as long as you don't download alot of things off the web, torrent, or use HD video streaming services like Netflix or Hulu Plus.


Though 10GB would be murder for me lol. I can easily use 500GB~1TB in a month. (seeds alot)

I ran a usage logger while playing for an hour awhile back and was right about 10mb/hour. Hope that helps.

I've been logged in for 7 hours doing Cutter's Cry runs and have used around 44MB in that time between the two connections FF14 establishes, at an average rate of 1842 bytes per second.

I play FFXIV through the 3G on my phone and it has a 10GB limit per month. All I can say is, be careful with whatever else you do while playing.

Besides FFXIV, things like Youtube and even forum browsing can eat away at your data.

you'll be just fine playing the game. I'm on satellite and have the worst bandwidth cap you could amagine and I don't even dent it with FFXIV. Farmville uses more bandwidth then this game.
