I'm all for seeing people like Hoary Boulder or Unukalhai (especially him) get more to do, but not at the cost of killing off the core group.
I wholeheartedly agree with you here. I know I started the thread with the topic of promoting the less significant Scions but it definitely shouldn't be at the cost of abandoning the main cast. One does not simply overhaul the main cast and expect a coherent and consistent story. Even though Arenvald wasn't promoted as part of the main cast, it was definitely a breath of fresh air to get to know another member of the scion that isn't the ones we often work with.

Though the primary members of the Scions often play a major role in every expansion, not everyone always play the "main roles" the way Alphinaud and Estinien were in Heavensward or the way Lyse and Hien were in Stormblood but the cast changes are actually very consistent and natural as opposed to everyone suddenly being dropped. I actually like how Alphinaud took the backseat in Stormblood to let Alisaie shine but it's not like he was completely axed since he still played some role in that expansion and maintained relevance throughout the course of the story. Natural transitions like these are fine in my opinion if it's to help other characters grow.

What I look for in the development of these minor Scions are actually more for the enhancement of worldbuilding rather than forcing them to suddenly become a part of the main cast.
