    End game whm healing

So very close to hitting level 80 on my whm. Never end game healed before. I got bunch of lvl 80 gear ready to put on. I want to end game heal and start some extremes and do more than the easier end game content.

How is it and what recommendations to do better raids and trials?

Read this document. All of it. It'll take a couple hours. Write down the things that you need to improve.

Spend a week or so practicing and working on that checklist in level 80 dungeons, trials, normal raids, and alliance raids. If you feel ready to move on before the week is up, that's fine. At the very least I'd recommend capping your weekly tomes and clearing all normal raids before moving on. Third party tools are definitely not allowed, but would hypothetically make this a LOT easier.

At the end of the week review and update your checklist. You will notice that you have improved in several areas. Reread the entire guide again.

You're now probably ready to start Ex trials. I'd suggest Innocence Ex. Watch/read a guide online and either make or join a learning party. If you're using crafted gear you will drastically outgear the fight, though you will still need to respect the mechanics. You're almost certainly going to die a lot. Don't get discouraged. The first Ex is always the hardest. No content in the game has required that level of precision from you before so it's unsurprising that it will take some time to adjust. Keep at it and you should clear within a few hours.

After that, watch a guide for and try Ruby Weapon Ex. The weapon will be an upgrade from the crafted weapon your have (unless you got the relic weapon). The fight is harder mechanically and you won't outgear it, however you will have a lot more practice by this point. How long this will take depends heavily on your party.

If you're still having fun and feel like you're ready for the next step up, watch a guide for E5S and try a learning party. You'll need to clear normal eden 1-8 first. The first savage tier is always the hardest. It's incredibly easy to overwhelmed. This might take a few days to clear. Watch a guide at the start of each raid night to refresh your memory and to get a fresh look at the next couple mechanics. E5S has a few mechanics where not positioning correctly will wipe the entire group. Don't feel bad when (not if) this happens. Everyone murders everyone over the course of savage prog. I find that I have an easier time remembering where and how to position when I understand the mechanic and WHY I need to position a certain way. Some players I know get confused if they're told more than where to go and when to move. Find what works for you and stick with it.

You might have noticed that I didn't say anything about WHM specifically. That's because your choice in class isn't terribly important. All three healers focus on the same metrics for optimizing their performance with only minor variations in how they achieve that optimization. Having a greater understanding of your class helps with this, but knowing what it is that you need to focus on in the first place and practicing it will help more. Every player uses their kit in slightly different ways, but most ways are good enough. As long as you use every resource in your kit you'll have a hard time not being able to keep everyone alive. Some ways are more efficient, some ways keep more in reserve in case an emergency happens (such as holding Swiftcast in case someone dies vs using it for extra damage while moving). As long as you clear and your group (static or PF) is comfortable with your performance then it really doesn't matter how you get there. If you need specific advice I would suggest asking on The Balance discord server.

That should be enough to get you started. If you have any other questions feel free to reach out to me on Discord. Qina#4625.

Edit: This is what worked for myself and a few other players I've helped teach in the past. I'll be the first one to admit that it's a lot of work that focuses more on excellence than clearing content. There are shorter and easier ways to get Extreme clears if you're not looking to go beyond that or aren't interested in getting big parses.

Practice. Specifically, learn to anticipate incoming damage - all fights are scripted and even auto attacks are mostly predictable. Pick a fight (Say Memoria Misera, for example), do it over and over and over and over - you'll learn the incoming damage patterns. Then it's just a matter of picking the right heal for it, and DPSing before and after that heal.

    Having trouble?

Look up a WHM PoV video for the fight you're practicing. Note how they move for mechanics, note which heals they use and when. You don't need to memorize the entire fight at once, just focus on the parts you're learning.
