You also have the New World and Merecydia as entire continents that can have new stuff, Merecydia stuff can include things from Tiamat/Bahamut/Warring Triad.
On that note, what if the new threat is...us?

I mean, we know very little about who we were before the Sundering, though its implied we were someone important. For all we know, we could have caused the sound or had a hand in it. All just fun speculation, of course.
