Castrum Meridianum as a new player

Hello,

So far i have tried to power through the game. I have skipped clips in the MSQ and read about it while im not playing. So far, the game is fun. However, why, oh why, can I not skip the clips in Castrum Meridianum. Not only can i not skip the clips, the groups i have been with just run off and leave me.

If i wanted to watch a movie i would watch a movie. I do not want to watch a movie, i want to play a game.

I accept I'm just having a moan, probably like so many others. So in an effort to make this vaguely constructive. Is there a way to feed this back to SE?

And in a vague method to be able to understand what dungeons are going to take 60mins + of my life. Are there any others that have unskippable cutscenes?

There are two dungeons like this, both from a time before SE realized it was a bad idea. Castrum, which you've done, and Praetorium, which you'll do very soon if you haven't already.

SE learned their lesson and never made dungeons like those again. As for the dungeons themselves... SE said they'd redo them if they had unlimited resources, but they're just too busy to stand much of a chance of really getting to it. So, just have to tough it through those two, but then you're in the clear.

The cutscenes in Castrum Meridanium and Praetorium used to have skippable cutscenes.
However, veteran players rarely if ever waited for those who actually wanted to watch the cutscenes. This meant that new players would be left hopelessly behind in the dungeons, got lost, never got to participate in any of the battles, and were bombarded with a constant stream of cutscenes without getting to see any of the action between them. This state of things sucked majorly for new players interested in the story.
So SE made the cutscenes unskippable so new players would have a chance to actually experience the dungeons as they were intended. To make sure veteran players still ran these dungeons the rewards, both XP and tomestones, were increased significantly as a compensation for the extra time the dungeons now took.

Unskippable cutscenes or not, these two dungeons only have to be run once for the MSQ. Any future runs of them are completely optional, and can thus easily be skipped by anyone who dislikes the cutscenes.

And as a general FYI, there are members of the community team that do read these forums and send feedback to HQ(the devs themselves might read the japanese forums, not sure). They tend to focus on issues that have a lot of support. Before these dungeons had their cutscenes set to unskippable, this was an issue with tons of feedback. From what we've been told, the next major patch will include some changes to the lower level experience(trimming/consolidating some quests, possibly addressing these 2 dungeons as well).

Another general note, sometimes before starting a cutscene the game will warn you to set aside a lot of time and have you acknowledge before going in. These are generally 30+ minute story sections, some of which have very important and powerful scenes. As someone who has been skipping youre less likely to be caught offguard by something like this, but its good to know regardless.

Wait till you get to the second one where the airship drops you off. Be prepared to run fast and keep up with the group, where all the veterans will run right past half the fights and not even bother to kill the enemies. Watch for white text tagged interactables you need to click on that teleport you to the next area so you’re not left behind fighting off a dozen enemies solo.
