The whole deal with the Liveletter to me even if i dont speak japanese, is how open and honest they are towards their fans.
This is something I really wish more gaming companies would adopt.
I watch these whenever I can live, if not ill still watch it when posted later and read the translations from the GMs![]()

I don't know about GMT, but it's 4am/5am/6am/7am respectively here in the USA.![]()
That being said, I do agree with the whole translation part of your post. While I appreciate the live streams, I do wish more of it was officially translated. I'm personally stuck reading the power points they put up, and usually the banter is missed with community translators. (Though they are appreciated.)
I used to be an adventurer, but then my ping increased.

Non-live would refer to the Letters From the producer, the written ones.
I miss the written letters we used to get.
Full of insight and information.

Cant wait for the next live letter, chock full of ignoring healers yet again!

Not really because the evening schools are closed so it's been temporarily suspended. (I do my revisions but that's about it, nothing too much 'new').
Despite that it doesn't change anything if it was before or after, I still have the same amount of free time I did before the lock down. I just simply work from home. And I actually work more now because there's no commute time lost and well the border between life / work is also gone now, I caught myself creating a work-related email at 10.30 PM (I work until 6 PM).
The fact that the devs are Japanese means nothing. It's not a local Japan only company, they are international. English (It's NOT my mother language) is an international language + NA & EU community combined is larger then the JAP community.
I find it ignorant and completely out of touch with their non JAP community.
This is one of my most favourite game if not the most. It's a triple A game where we pay full triple A + a subscription. Yet if we want to stay in touch and informed with all the latest information we have to relay on our own community, fan based translations or just wait a month or two where they pust a bland topic with 'oh yeah this is what we said a while ago'. > As A EU consumer I feel completely left in the dark and not thought off.
This is not me hating on the game, I think it's a great game and one of my favourites, I just have strong disagrees with certain points and with to see them changed (towards an international company that is).
I also have a few local JAP only games and there I also relay on the community and fan based translations. For these I don't mind because it's a local JAP only community. So, it's not me blindly hating on JAP stuff either.
Letter from the Producer LIVE Part IX Q&A Summary (10/30/2013)
Q: Will there be any maintenance fees or other costs for housing, besides the cost of the land and house?
A: In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.
