I hope marriage is added for everyone to enjoy. Might have to make instance-based cause I bet all the complainers would be the ones who try to ruin it if it were added.

But to those on Masamune, if it does come out I hope you remember a certain Red Wizard who will want to be the priest who wed the couples together...

If we are going to have marriage in this game, we need to have same-sex companionship for two reasons I can think of:

1. I remember reading about a straight couple who wanted to get married in a game that wouldn't allow same-sex companionship. However, both the man and the woman picked male characters and were therefore unable to get married because of a stupid in-game rule.

2. Even though I've met many of female players, there are still way, way more male players. If we want as many people as possible to enjoy whatever bonus a marriage would grant, we're gonna need a bit o' bromance.

Why doesn't anyone speak up for the rights of polygamist or pedos or anyone else who feels they are right and are being discriminated against? Until everyone can agree on everyones view of marriage, it dosnt belong in this game, or any other game for that matter.

It IS a terrible thing that 50 year olds think its ok to marry 10 year olds however it is not a terrible counterpoint.... as it is real. At what point are the boundaries set an acceptable form of discrimination? My point is not to leave same sex marriage out of the game (i realy dont care what one adult human does with another adult human as long as it dosnt impact me).. but to leave it out completly as it is still a sore subject for many others as well as a stupid idea for a ff game at that.

I'm fine with polygamy, people doo what they wanna do, I am however not fine with a 50 year old with a 10 year old.

Devs, this is an extremely controversial issue for many people with very strong opinions on both sides.

Please - for the sake of FFXIV's peace - Do not implement player character Marriage in any form in this game.

I would wonder how many people that don't want marriage (or "gay marriage") implemented for the sake of controversy would've also supported any post-9/11 release of FFVII being censored because of its use of terrorism, and how one tower in it exploded, or even some anime releases got censored in the U.S. because of 9/11 despite being released prior to the 9/11 events. Hell, do they also support SE not releasing certain primals because of the recent Japanese incidents (Leviathan/Tsunami and Titan/Earthquake)?

I know I personally don't agree with the idea of "gay marriage" in the real world, but I also don't agree with government-sanctioned marriage to begin with. At the end of the day though, the fact of the matter is that video games (like films) are meant to be fiction, worlds bound only by their authors or visionaries, and Final Fantasy XIV is one such world.
