Morticous - Senior admin of.... well of nothing. (cool picture here)

My initial point:
And then:
Careful, you might ruin the sanctity of marriage in a videogame.I don't even know who you are and you are already claiming we don't like your idea because we're anti-gay.There's nothing "holy" about same sex marriage [...].If you want to keep your grace with the twelve and thus your power of the echo and ability to understand other langauges, you better not involve yourself in acts of homosexuality. [...]Wow.. discrimination in game?.....Yeah, lets get some marriage in here and to hell with only hetero couples.Calm down there Glenn Beck.
Marriage isn't holy. It was a social contract/business contact for [...].
And we want more of this in the game?
Devs, this is an extremely controversial issue for many people with very strong opinions on both sides.
Please - for the sake of FFXIV's peace - Do not implement player character Marriage in any form in this game.
-Thank you.

There's a huge difference between the two. This is a controversial topic that is going on in real life. However I believe most people that are against it won't post because of the massive amount of drama that it will create.
When it comes to real-life controversial topics, leave it out of the game. I wonder what would happen if they add in-game abortions...

If anybody honestly has a problem with this clump of polygons and that clump of polygons being "married" via coding in the system, you really need to rethink your stance as a human being.
Some of the responses to this have me scratching my head...
But I wouldn't mind seeing something like this implemented once everything else is fleshed out down the road.

dont know why they would do that. they force you to select a god to follow and dont give you the option to follow/believe in none of them... they do in kingdom of amalur and it has its own benefit. dont get me wrong, i support the idea in the OP, i just hope they revise the god selection to remove their atheist discrimination.

Someone's world view is skewed.

Oh please, treating this as a gateway to other "social issues" being introduced to the game is complete nonsense. Frankly XI had the right idea with it, making it relatively simple and the rings were a nice touch for couples that actually played together. (I knew quite a few.) Any drama that comes from it is the fault of those involved. If you don't want to deal with it, simply don't do it. Let those who want it enjoy it.There's a huge difference between the two.
