And it starts!~
@Zaaku
nono you don't understand, people don't like my idea because it's MY idea, ya know.
Also, I'm not a homosexual, I just like to fight for them, and if they do add marriage they better make it available to those who want same sex!
OP: "Loooooook everyone! Highly controversial topic!" Dumps topic, loudly! Queue most people: Who pleasantly decline. Queue first dissenter: "Look everyone! Come see the violence inherent in the system!"

Frankly, as much as I'd like to marry the character of my real-life wife in game, I just don't want this. I've said it before on this topic, the best thing SE can do is give us rings that we can choose to put our love's name on and give us a venue without approving or dissenting anything.
This game is not the place for you to fight the power on a topic that is extraordinarily volatile to many many people. And then to treat people have a legitimate argument poorly when they may or may not have a philosophically important reason to disagree.

If you want to keep your grace with the twelve and thus your power of the echo and ability to understand other langauges, you better not involve yourself in acts of homosexuality.
If anything, I believe they should make it to where each nation has different laws for marriage. Like if you're gay, you need to get married in Gridania or be observed by the Twin Adders.
You don't need a reason to help someone~
With the way GMs actually read out lines in FFXI's weddings, I wouldn't ever want another one of SE's GMs to head a marriage for me.
If we're going to get official marriages, then SE needs to give us the tools to do it ourselves without requiring a GM being there to wed the groom and bride.
better to not open this can of worms, provide a way for people to sign their own low level rings and maybe introduce some armor that looks "wedding-ish" and let them do their own thing if you keep it from being an officially run service, people can take whatever conflicts arise into private discussions amongst themselves (since you can't call people out on the forums)
Love knows no bonds ^^
