Like title says. I want to tank end game content but not be the main tank and I want to be semi less invovled. Also a GnB.

Well you dps with tank stance off and thats it.![]()
Oh haha easy enough
Honestly if this is not a troll post, go play a dps if you don't want to deal with the streamlined responsibility tanks have nowadays.
If you wanna tank end game content it's either all the responsibility or don't waste peoples time. You will be expected to be capable of pulling the boss, be able to tank swap due to mechanics, co-tank picked up too many vulns or recover aggro due to you co-tank dying. There will be some minor degree in positioning the boss (too little in fight design sadly with auto positioning and bosses glued to the arena), sometimes you will be required to pick up adds, and also make use of Heart of Stone and Aurora on your co-tank regularly if not actively holding aggro.
The idea of old school MT and OT (Sub Tank) is practically dead in xiv, it is more co-tanks since all four tanks are capable of carrying out either role effectively with minor variance in effectiveness. The terms are more so to note which tank is pulling / currently holding aggro and which tank is not; both terms are also used in JP and EU macros for fight strategies.

Good luck doing any endgame content whilst being "semi less involved" on any class, much less tank. You'll get kicked from parties quicker than you can say "enforced tank swap".
Like Aodhan said, there is no MT and OT. Just "tank that currently has aggro at this point in the boss rotation"
But you know, you do you. Go join a Ramuh party. Say hi to Raiden for me.
Usually OT have to share tank busters and swap out from time to time correct me if I’m wrong. So I fail to see the point in being a pure OT
“being less involved”? Did you want a easy route to Eden choir gear? Since GNB has a much simpler DPS rotation than DPS. Their aren’t any easy paths I’d suggest do some MT stuff in 60s then do Raids than some extremes than try Savage
It honestly depends on the raid tier, this raid tier we are currently on is probably one of the least involved for off tanks, but that still doesnt mean theres not responsibility.Usually OT have to share tank busters and swap out from time to time correct me if I’m wrong. E5s: Raiden "Add", invulning a centaur charge
E6s: Forced Tank Swap Buster (although the the original tank can take aggro back almost immediatly after)
E7s: Randomly targetted tank buster and add phase kiting
E8s: Forced swap busters and auto's targetting both tanks in some phases
So even if there is less to do than other tiers, theres still a fair few off tank duties, espeically if you're supporting the MT with aurora and such.
Savage Completion Rate ~5%+ of active players. Community: "Ugh stop catering to savage"
Ultimate Completion Rate ~1% of active players. Community: "Ugh stop catering to the hardcore raiders"
Frontline/ Rival Wings/ Hidden Gorge Mount Aquisition ~0.05-1% of active players. Community: "Ugh PVP is so dead in this game, they should stop investing in it"
Blue Mage Morbol Mount Aquisition ~0.01% of active players. Community: "WoW bLuE mAgE iS sO fUn AnD aCtIvE i CaN't WaIt FoR mOrE lImItEd JoBs"
At this point its better to just have the OT take both centaur charges. 2 cooldowns and a heal shield is more than enough to survive the charge you don't invuln ( I know cause I take both charges for my group). Its better for the MT to save thier invuln for sticky situations and just have the OT have charge duty.
We play it the same way in our static: OT takes both charges as it isn't really an issue to survive even without inv-CD.At this point its better to just have the OT take both centaur charges. 2 cooldowns and a heal shield is more than enough to survive the charge you don't invuln ( I know cause I take both charges for my group). For GnB as OT: Best make a macro for Aurora and Heart of Stone that targets the second player in your group [a.k.a. your co-tank in 8-player-content] so you can always easily give it to your MT if you don't need it for yourself. For example:
/micon "Aurora"
/ac "Aurora" <2>
