Nothing elitist about being able to carry out something basic that's expected of a tank in a party. But if you want to be lazy and not bother to learn the few basics, don't go crying when you get kicked from parties, calling people elitist, when actual fact you're most likely getting in the way of actually clearing content with that kinda attitude.

Dont worry about normal trials and raids, you could go blind in them and OT doing very little.

Just make sure you learn the mechanics of certain raid/trial before you start savage/expert raiding and join progression teams in order to learn all these. There are few responsibilities you are going to have as ot but nothing too taxing.

Honestly? You would need to learn mechanics just as much as someone who's got their tank stance on. Just because you would be "free" to do your dps rotation without dps loss from pressing your mitigation buttons, doesn't mean you'd be given the chance to just sit back with more HP and do damage lol.

Yeah your responsibility is knowing the mechanic's just as much, you probably don't want to deal with the "responsibility" which I get but also, MT/OT? Uhh.. yeah doesn't truly exist in this game tbh. You tank swap or you pick up mobs so your healers don't take the damage and neither does your "MT" if you want to consider it that way.. Some places where you would split damage or tank damage outside of that yeah you're basically a supportive tank with your HoS and Aur.

probably alot of the people who think GNB is the "can play DPS but as tank" role ,same as RDM players who like to top up people with vercure without actually having to play healer .

This is what made it satisfying to be an OT in Copied Factory. I felt like I was really contributing by keeping adds on me.

With all the tank changes that came to tanks this expansion to dumb down the role, its not suprising they have cropped up. Ran into alot thinking they know how to tank, but are scared of MTing. At least in Savage for many fights you won't get away with that because you must tank swap but still...

If you want to OT all the time, bring Paladin. Paladin is the worst MT this expansion and best done on OT.

Depends. Most of the time GNB is the main tank, especially if you are paired with a PLD. For casual content you are fine as there are very few tank swaps, add control, etc.

You are still learning so you should be fine.

idk if you actually like Gunbreaker or like the Queue times tanks have. Either way there's no real way to take the backseat 24/7 for this role without pissing someone off.
